My husband is Welsh and brought me a copy of this book from one of his visits home.It explains why there had to be a 'suicide hotline' established for people who bought farms and moved to Wales after falling in love with the countryside, unprepared for the isolation and harsh weather. But, it is also a place of exquisite natural beauty and warm, sometimes quirky people. At times I laughed outloud while reading it. You'll want to read everything McMullen has written.
Found this author totally by accident. If you are a fan of James Herriot, then you'll love this book and the others, A Small Country Living and A Small Country Living Goes On.
