Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books, based on her own childhood and later life, are still beloved classics almost a century after she began writing them. Now young readers will see just how similar Laura's true-life story was to her books. Born in 1867 in the "Big Woods" in Wisconsin, Laura experienced both the hardship and the adventure of living on the frontier. Her life and times are captured in engaging text and 80 black-and-white illustrations.

I just wanted to make note that on page 10 the writer/author/publisher refers to Laura being older then Mary. It should be Carrie is younger then Laura, not Mary.

I read the Laura Ingalls Wilder series a few years ago. This is a good way to take all those books and wrap them into a nice, short summary of her whole life. I would reccomend this to anybody who wants to read about this amazing person. Especially if you only have an hour or two! Or maybe even half an hour! Even if you have a lifetime of freetime, this costs less than the whole entire series. The author is surely a great one, and I recommend her series of books, which all tell about historic characters and figures. I love the drawings on the front. They are so comical! If you read one, you will want to read them all! This is a great series I think everyone should love!

I LOVE Little House books by: Laura Ingalls Wilder. There are so many challages they had to get though. Its about how Laura and her family move out of the big house in Wiscoson and traveled all of the priaies looking for a homestead and tiring to get though hard well doing it. Then Laura...years later.. goes off to teach school to help her sister, Mary, who is blind to raise money to help go to school for blind girls. Then Laura meet a young man named Almanzo Wilder and they get to know each other and still getting though some ruff time but not as many. Then they get marry and move to Missouri where Rose is born.

The review that cites incorrect info on page 10 is itself INCORRECT. Pg. 10 says "It must have been a long bumpy trip for little Laura and her four-year-old sister, Mary." Ages and dates are all factual in the book. trip
