London, much like Kipling, does an excellent job of imagining what must go through an animal's head as they interact with us humans. We are an odd bunch to them, and he does good in trying to look at life through a different perspective. So often we are taken into the thought process of people, and I really enjoy when we are allowed to see into an animal's perspective.

I love this book because it is realistic and brutal. Even though some people say it's violent, it wouldn't make very much sense if it were about a wild animal that is three quarters wolf and a quarter wild dog that cuddles with bunnies and sleeps all day!!!! I think that no person under 12 should read it for two reasons, one: because its WAAAAAAY too violent for kids and two: because its very detailed and many things die. I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!

I only read The Call of The Wild, but I was impressed with this one. It is short enough for a busy high school student to read and i understood what was going on the whole time. I think this is a particularly good choice for guys who don't like all that nonsense that English teachers are so crazy about. I recommend this book.
