Overview

The #1 New York Times bestselling Red Queen series comes to a stunning conclusion in War Storm.

VICTORY COMES AT A PRICE.

Mare Barrow learned this all too well when Cal’s betrayal nearly destroyed her. Now determined to protect her heart—and secure freedom for Reds and newbloods like her—Mare resolves to overthrow the kingdom of Norta once and for all . . . starting with the crown on Maven’s head.

But no battle is won alone, and before the Reds may rise as one, Mare must side with the boy who broke her heart in order to defeat the boy who almost broke her. Cal’s powerful Silver allies, alongside Mare and the Scarlet Guard, prove a formidable force. But Maven is driven by an obsession so deep, he will stop at nothing to have Mare as his own again, even if it means demolish everything—and everyone—in his path.

War is coming, and all Mare has fought for hangs in the balance. Will victory be enough to topple the Silver kingdoms? Or will the little lightning girl be forever silenced?

In the epic conclusion to Victoria Aveyard’s stunning series, Mare must embrace her fate and summon all her power . . . for all will be tested, but not all will survive.

And don’t miss Broken Throne: A Red Queen Collection, featuring three brand-new novellas and other exclusive content, coming in April!

Waited for the final release in this story and was disappointed. The story lines do not wrap up and there are too many things left to question. Could have taken less time on a battle and more time on the ending.

Not a typical read ir outcome. Not an ending...not really. Lots of political strategy. Not what i expected or hoped for... Kind of disappointing.

This is a good book. It has a good plot with strange but good twists and I really like how the author changes perspectives from each kingdom. I have read the entire Red Queen series but was slightly disappointed in some of the endings. Maybe it's just because I'm only 13, but this book was kind of hard to read. Mare, Cal, Maven, and Evangeline are quite unlikeable characters, constantly manipulating each other when they feel exactly the opposite, and although some of this really helps move the story along, other parts of it of it just irritated me. There is lots of strategy between the characters in this book, which I like reading about, but it just drags on and bores me a tiny bit. I don't find the lesbianism gross at all(I'm straight, for the record), I think it really helped develop Evangeline's actions and her feelings behind them. Although I do agree that Cal is a very weak character. You wanna be king, and yet you don't even know how to be one without guidance. Like why? I liked the minor chracters a lot more, such as Iris and Kilorn. While reading this book, I had to be patient to get to parts where something major actually happens. I think the kingdoms are well developed with good detail about each one, and it was cool to learn about this imaginary place. Honestly, Maven seems kind of unreal, but he's a well developed character as well, no matter how much his actions annoy me lol. Overall, I think this was a good book, just the characters, pace, and the ending got me disappointed.

The ending... really? So disappointed after all this time.

After all that build up and ensuing anticipation this ending really was a let down. It almost feels like a giant present left under the Christmas tree that you go to open, and its just camouflage for a tiny box with a pair of socks hidden within increasingly smaller boxes.

The ending left way too many questions for me I felt a like I was left wanting too much more for a book series finale.

2 1/2 stars! I didn't really expect anything super great out of this book, but I was very disappointed. It was very repetitive but the ENDING THOUGH. I was VERY unsatisfied and I feel like many can agree with me. I really wish it would've been told a better way. I'm not trying to hate on it, but there aren't many good things to say. The good parts were when the chapters included: Evangeline, Tolly, and Cameron (who only appears in this book once!) Overall, I am happy this series is FINALLY over and I would not read this book again. There are so many pages and I thought it was kind of a waste of time.

It has taken me a while to read this highly anticipated finale to the Red Queen series. I was glad to finally finish it! It’s been a few years since I started reading this series. I had forgotten a lot that happened, so I had to read some summaries before reading this book. Even though it has only been four books, there were a lot of subplots and characters to follow. I was surprised at how easy it was to get back into the story once I started reading it. Victoria Aveyard’s writing gives a complete picture of what is happening, so it was easy to read. The one criticism I have about this book is that it drifted from the original plot of the story. The story mostly followed Mare, Evangeline, and Iris. There was a lot of focus on the different houses and kingdoms in the world. I think it would have been much shorter if it just focused on the battle between Mare, Cal and Maven. The stories of the other families could have been explored in its own series. I’m glad that I finished this series. I’m curious to see what happens in the collection of stories, Broken Throne.

The book and series was amazing as always, but the ending was seriously lacking. We went through so much with Cal and Mare, even Evangeline to leave the readers hanging on the very end of this series. In my opinion she could have written a few more pages of closure at least for Mare and Cal. Other than that, the book was well done and I wish there was more to the series.

(Please note: there is a slight spoiler in this review!) This book ruined the entire series for me. I really delved into all of the other Red Queen books, but this last one was tedious and drawn-out. The male characters' perspectives were considerably flat compared to the females' and only added to the already unnecessary page count. However, it was the ridiculous cliff-hanger ending that really stamped the seal of disapproval for me. I like a little room for my own imagination at the end of a series, but this book is just flat-out incomplete. There needs to be another book, or at the very least 200-300 pages of further explanation. Sadly, I'm not satisfied at all with the end of the Red Queen series and won't be recommending it to anyone.

I am a die hard Victoria Aveyard fan and I LOVE Red Queen, Glass Sword, and Kings Cage they are AWESOME and this book certainly does not disappoint. The one thing I absolutely hate about this book though is.... THAT IT IS THE LAST ONE IN THE SERIES! When I heard this was the last one I was heart broken. You really sparked up a flame. I kinda want a book like Cruel Crown for when Cal and Maven were kids and they were in the front when Thomas died. Anyways like I said AMAZING book, one that can’t be topped.

Another wonderful Red Queen Book by Victoria Aveyard! I thoroughly enjoyed how the story rounded out at the end and the journey taken by each character. I’m fond of every single character now in some way, for the choices they made or the situations they had to endure. Many books fail to capture my full attention, but I’ve never been disappointed by Victoria Aveyard before and this is no exception to that rule. Loved it!

War Storm by Victoria Aveyard is the forth and final book in the Red Queen Series. I really enjoyed the multiple points of view she gave through out the book. You were really able to get in the heads of Mare, Evangeline, Iris, Cal, and Maven. I am only giving the book four stars due to the ending it was given. It is the final book but was left open for more. I do see that she is releasing additional novellas in May 2019 under the title Broken Throne. I am really hoping they will help wrap up the series better.

I love this series, I was so hooked. Couldn't wait to see how everything got wrapped up. Except nothing was wrapped up in the end. I was really let down with the ending.

"War Storm" is a thrilling conclusion to the Red Queen series. In this finale, we follow Mare, Evangeline, Iris, Cal, and Maven with the focus on the first three. There's a lot of action and political scheming in this book, pretty much as expected. Evangeline and Iris really stole the spotlight in this book, whereas Mare (the red queen) was really primary in the previous books. Mare here has spiraled down in terms of who she is and how she finds her place in the potential new worlds- she feels a little lost and not as strong of a character. That being said, the other characters certainly shone and seemed to have more dimensionality here. Particularly, Evangeline, who seemed like a villain in the past, has really come into her own in this book- she is motivated by her love for her family and her romantic partner and is also fighting for her country. Iris was a relatively new character who also has some interesting motivations and perspectives. I am really curious if there might be some spin-off series, as I think there are some aspects of this world that could be developed into their own books (and I would definitely be interested in reading). Overall, I found it a pretty solid finale with lots of action and battles (as promised by title). We also get the ending we all anticipated throughout the series. I am glad I finished the series, but I definitely loved the first couple books more than the last two.
