Romantic Times
Award-winning author Kristin Hannah creates her most spellbinding and compelling novel yet...a passionate tale of obsession, redemption, and the magic of true love.
She doesn't remember who she is or how she came to the mansion on the isolated Maine coast. Lost in a strange world filled with even stranger faces, Selena finds comfort in a man whose eyes reflect her own aloneness.
He is Ian Carrick, a brilliant physician turned recluse, hiding from life in the anonymity of this small sanctuary, haunted by a telepathic gift that has destroyed his desire to heal.
Selena comes to him, the only person he's ever met who is immune to his psychic powers. A mesmerizing innocent, she turns his life upside down, bringing light into the darkness and laughter into the silence. For her, he begins to believe in life again, to believe in himself. And then a mysterious figure from the past arrives, threatening to destroy their glorious love and the fantasy world they have created together....

I've read her newer novels and was skeptical of her older ones but this one was great. She really brought to life the characters and lifestyle of an insane asylum. The story has mystery and love. Excellent.

I have read just about every book that Kristin Hannah has out in print. She is one of my favorite authors. I love her writing style and her books always seem to grab me in the first page or two, making it hard to put the book down. This book was different for me. The story did not grab me in the first pages, nor did it in the first several chapters. I know most readers would not continue reading if this happened, but being that I love this author, I kept at it. I felt that she could not have changed her style of writing so much, since this book was written, as to lose a fan with one book. I saw promise about one quarter of the way through the book and before I hit halfway I was hooked.Waiting For The Moon weaves a story of heartbreak in all kinds of relationships from family to lover. It shows how one act of forgiveness can change a person and that starting over can change many lives. You will run through a gamut of emotion from mourning a death to the rebirth of a once thought dead soul.I realize that some will not stick with this book long enough to get the reward and I do fully understand. If you do stick with it I do believe you will find the raw emotion and magic that Kristin Hannah does so well.

Fantastic! I read it once and forgot the name of it. Searched and searched for it and found it several years later. Re-read it and loved it even more. Now recommending it to my sister's book club and I also plan to re-read it for the 3rd time. The main character, Selena, is so inspirational. She reminds me how to thoroughly enjoy life, not just plod through day to day with nothing to celebrate.

Do not read this book. It is no reflection of Kristin Hannah's work.

I love Kristin Hannah's books, but I just got this one and it's horrible! It's so slow and boring. At this point I'm just trying to get through it and finish it. I can see why she got away from this type of writing. Her more recent stuff is 100 times better.

Having started with Kristin Hannah's contemporary books, this one was really quite different. It was historical, zanny, and extremely unusual. I believe it is the only one of her books actually set in a different location. It takes place alone the coast of Maine. I did enjoy it and I really loved watching the relationship develope between Ian and Selena. Although it did get a little slow and redundant in the early "transforming Selena" days, it was a pretty good book.

Totally loved this book! It's a slow-moving romance dating back to the early 1900's. Talk about a deep, love-each-other-more-than-self book! It was well written and the author stays true to each character.

I love K. Hannah and this is one of my favorites from her. It's a completely different style from all her other books and the story line and characters are amazing. If you like K. Hannah, you must read Waiting for the Moon!

This is one that I couldn't put down. I have read bookcases of romance novels and only a few can hold my interest enough to not put it down. I love all sorts of romance novels, from time travel to humorous to haunting ones. If you have an open mind and a great imagination, you'll love this one.

I have never read a romance quit like this one before. It was a mystery and a little science fiction as well.. I don't want to turn anyone off by saying that ,but it was absolutley a good good book. I was hooked! I really liked the main characters and I really felt like I was a there as a ghost just observing these people. It was a very beautiful book!!! Read it.

As a romance, Waiting for the Moon was just about what you could expect. It was enjoyable, but having read her later works like Angel Falls and On Mystic Lake or even another romance Handful of Heaven, it fell short. The story was unusual - set around the mentally ill in the 1800's - but the characters were just a bit too cliche for me.
