This Halcyon Classics ebook contains two works by English Catholic Saint Sir Thomas More, 'Utopia,' his description of a fictional island nation in the Pacific, where an absolutely perfect society flourished. More's "utopia" (literally 'no place') serves to contrast the contemporary troubled European society of More's time. This ebook also contains More's 'Dialogue of Comfort Against Tribulation' a devotional he prepared while imprisoned in the Tower of London. Includes an active table of contents for easy navigation.

About the Author

Saint Sir Thomas More (1478-1535) was an English Catholic churchman, barrister, statesman, and councillor. Recognized as a saint in the Catholic Church, More was an important advisor to Henry VIII of England and opposed the latter's attempts to separate the Church of England from Rome. More also opposed the Protestant Reformation, wrote against Martin Luther, and opposed Tyndale's efforts to translate the Bible into English. More refused to swear allegiance to Henry VIII as head of the Church of England and was tried for treason and beheaded in 1535.
