Overview

Twas the Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore or A Visit from St. Nicholas, On the night of Christmas Eve, a family is settling down to sleep when the father is disturbed by noises on the lawn outside. Looking out the window, he sees Saint Nicholas in an airborne sleigh pulled by eight reindeer. After landing his sleigh on the roof, Saint Nicholas enters the house down the chimney, carrying a sack of toys. The father watches his visitor fill the stockings hanging by the fireplace, and laughs to himself. They share a conspiratorial moment before Saint Nicholas bounds up the chimney again. As he flies away, he wishes a, "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night."

Very disappointed in this book. Bought it for my 3 year old grandson. Thought it would be fun to read during the Holidays, what a bummer it turned out to be. Even though description talked about illustrations there were none. Hard to keep a little one interested without pictures. Would not recommend this book.

This is a lovely children¿s poem about a man who hears Santa Claus on his rooftop on Christmas Eve. The story is told in verse and warms my heart every time I hear it. I love to read this poem to my children at Christmas. They always try to remember the names of the reindeer just as Santa calls them out. It is a wonderful book to read and to share. This poem was written by Clement Clarke Moore. He was born on July 15, 1779 and passed away on July 10, 1863. He died at home in his Newport home in Rhode Island. He is now buried in New York ay the Trinity Churchyard Cemetery. One of his daughters Mary C. Moore Ogden illustrated his poem in a book called A Visit From St. Nicholas c 1995. My eight year old son had a great time reading this book. He read it the first night of advent and every night there after until Christmas Day. The illustrations on every page really added to the poem.

Don't waste your time on this book if you have a nook app. Half the of the content will not appear correctly. Barnes and Noble should have had a warning about pages not appearing correctly. Even after adjusting font and page settings I still couldn't read it the whole book.

We gave this recordable book as a Christmas gift for our almost 2 year old niece. Her parents were delighted that they could record their voices reading this book, and that she could pretend to read it along with them. I must say it was a big hit.

We missed having some illustrations. A picture of Santa would have help. But you can't complain when a book is free.
