I've read nearly all of Tamora Pierce's works, and fell in love with Alanna, Daine, Kel and Beka.  I am partial to clever, independent heroines, and Alianne (Aly) is no exception. But something about this particular series calls me back to reread it over and over again. Not only Aly, but the other leading characters in this story are brought to life magnificently. An empowering series for young women, and an entertaining tale about discovering one's self, love, and of course, what's a good tale without a mischievous  Trickster God and a plot to overthrow tyranny?

I dont think tamora could do better than she has. She's my favorite author, and my role model. I think it is a staple for any person's childhood, along with her stories about Beka, Alanna, Kel, Sandry, Tris, Daja, Briar and all the short stories she writes(Tortall and other lands). I definitly give it ten out of five.
