A bookish quarterback and a nurse in hiding collide in this forbidden love, small-town romance.

After turning state evidence against her father, Kara Eaton is forced to start over with a fictional past or be executed by the men she brought down.

Brody Mullen has been burned by too many women interested in his fame and bank account. He's also convinced that sex messes with his game. No sex. No women. No problems.

Their worlds collide the moment they meet. Instant attraction equals instant frustration. But it's deeper than physical desire. He's drawn to her competence, quick wit and love of football. She's charmed by his commitment to family and friends.

He insists on honesty, but the truth won't set her free. It will kill her.

USA Today Bestselling author Tess Thompson invites you into the world of Cliffside Bay for an intimate look into the lives of five best friends and the women they love. The books in this series can be enjoyed as delicious standalone meals. However, for a feast, the author suggests reading this binge worthy series in order.

About the Author

Like most of her characters, Tess Thompson hails from a small town and will always feel like a small town girl, despite the fact she’s lived in Seattle for over twenty-five years. She loves music and dancing, books and bubble baths, cooking and wine, movies and snuggling. She cries at sappy commercials and thinks kissing in the rain should be done whenever possible. Although she tries to act like a lady, there may or may not have been a few times in the last several years when she’s gotten slightly carried away watching the Seattle Seahawks play, but that could also just be a nasty rumor.

She currently lives in a suburb of Seattle, Washington with her brand new husband, the hero of her own love story, and their Brady Bunch clan of two sons, two daughters and five cats, all of whom keep her too busy, often confused, but always amazed. Yes, that’s four kids and five cats. Pray for her.

I love it when a love story concentrates on the relationships and characters. Really enjoyed. CB

Loved the different storyline. Kara is really great person and Brody isn't the typical jock, he's sensitive. The whole group are people you wish you had in your corner. Liked that the characters were well developed. This series is a must read, lots going on and you want to know about every person in the group. Can't wait to get started on the next book. Mjw

I really enjoyed this. It was not silly and juvenile like most hometown stories.

*This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review* Brody Mullen is a quarterback whose team just won the last huge game of the season. Since he travels and works so much, he has a housekeeper named Flora that comes by sometimes, and helps take care of things. She’s been around since he was a little kid and is very protective of him. His father died a few years ago, so his mother moved in with him so he can help her out. One day Brody finds out that Flora has a brain tumor and will have to go into surgery. Soon after, his mother falls and breaks her leg. Since it’s the off season, Brody decides to hire someone to help take care of his mother and Flora, as well as do some housework. Flora is upset because she doesn’t want someone else to help out, but she finally agrees after telling Brody she gets to pick who it is. Kara’s life is in turmoil. She’s in the witness protection program because she had to turn her father in, because he’s a Columbian drug lord. Growing up, she always knew they were well off financially, but always assumed that he made his money in stock. However, after seeing her father kill a man, she put all the pieces together and knew she needed to take action. She’s terrified because she knows that if she’s ever found, then her father would not hesitate to have her killed and make it look like an accident. She’s put up in a small town in a very not so nice place to live, and finds out about the housekeeper position. It’s perfect for her because she has a degree in nursing and she will be able to stay there rent free, so she can save money to find someplace better to live. She knows that she can never tell Brody or his family about her past because she doesn’t want them involved in her drama. However, the longer she stays and helps out the family, the more everyone starts to love her and want her to stay. Kara can’t tell them about her past, but Brody seems to catch on to her that she is lying about something, and is unsure if he really wants someone he can’t trust taking care of his family. I loved this story. I had so much fun reading it, and I was so nervous that Kara would say something, or do something and be questioned about her past. There were some close moments of slip up for Kara but she handled herself very well. Of course Flora had taken care of the family for so long she was a little hesitant to hire Kara, but I loved how they all came to care about her in the end. There were laugh out loud moments, but there were also some sadder moments. There was a shocking moment during the last third of the book that I was really freaking out about. Overall, I highly enjoyed this book. It was so enjoyable and fun. ***Review has been done in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official. Traded: Brody And Kara is an outstanding contemporary romance by Tess Thompson. Ms. Thompson has delivered a well-written book. The characters are magnificent and my favorite part of the story. Witness Protection has hidden Kara away after she testified at her father's trial. Brody has just won the Super Bowl and is starting his offseason but finds his mother has broken her leg and his housekeeper/cook/second mom has a brain tumor. I love the way Ms. Thompson has woven the little side stories into the main story. I enjoyed every page of this book and look forward to reading more from Tess Thompson soon. Traded: Brody And Kara is book 1 of the Cliffside Bay Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I absolutely loved this book and was over the moon when I realized I didn't have to deal with graphic sex to enjoy it. This author gives us not only the girl that wears blinders and gets a rude and sobering reality slap when her father's life comes out. When she finds herself with a new life and identity it's in a beautiful small town of her "arch football rival". I adored the supporting cast of women that kept Brody's life interesting and the friends that kept him grounded. It was a great story and I can't wait to enjoy more of the Cliffside Bay series. This author is new to me and had I not took a chance on this freebie I never would have missed a goodie. If you enjoy implied romance with a good story to go with it, a little angst/repairing of broken hearts and plenty of tension you will enjoy this author. I love being able to imagine what happens behind close doors.

I really enjoyed taking a day off and read Traded by Tess Thompson. I loved everything that became of this story. When I read the blurb, I was sure this was a normal Sports Romance that I love. No way was that the case here. Yes the hero of the story is a football player. Yes it starts off with the sports, but wow it is so much more than the game! Traded is a story that I did not expect. You will get the romance and chemistry. It is mild when it comes to the Heat level, but I enjoyed it all the same. You get the same experience on a different level. Brody and Kara were a match made. Kara has a HUGE secret that she can never let get out. She fears it will ruin Brody before they start anything. He becomes everything that she needs. The family connection is amazing along with friendship between the dogs. This story has so much going on, but it intertwines within itself. You get second chance, lost loves, and new love. I could not put this book down! I am excited to start this series and have love for this little Bayside town that I am now fond off!

This was a sweet contemporary romance with a slow burn. I was intrigued when I read the blurb and am glad that I gave this book a chance. Kara's life has done a complete 360 and she has to start over. Brody has just won the super bowl but has also found out that someone he loves isn't doing so well. He doesn't like new people entering his circle but has no choice but to let someone new in. These two have an instant attraction (probably insta-love but neither of them are willing to admit it), however they try to fight it at all costs. This story had a unique secondary story and a ton of lovable secondary characters. I love down and dirty books but sometimes a sweet contemporary story is just what a person needs. OH and don't forget about Minnie. She just sounds so adorable. I love how she won over Brody's heart. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy for an honest review.*
