Tyler Cree has never been good at the whole look and don't touch thing.

From the moment he was old enough to walk on his own two feet, he's been looking for trouble.

Trouble comes in many forms...quite a few of those forms being the female persuasion.

Tyler knows what girls want--a bad boy. And he has the bad boy image down pat.

Hot cop--double check.

A bike between his legs and a devil may care attitude--oh, yeah.

All the girls want him, yet none of them will have him--at least not all of him, anyway. A certain appendage they can have all they want. His heart, however, is not up for grabs. The useless organ inside his chest was broken and battered, mutilated by the one woman he thought would keep it safe.

Spoiler alert: she ripped it to shreds and set fire to the pieces.

To protect himself, Tyler keeps everyone at arm's length, and never lets anyone get too close.

Then Reagan Rose Alvarez barrels into his life, and trespasses on not only his property, but straight into his abused heart. One glance is all it takes, and he's suddenly thinking about things he hasn't thought for quite some time--thoughts that a man like him should never have about a woman like her.

One moment of weakness is all it takes, and suddenly he has no other choice but to go on the offensive.
Keeping her is the only other option now.

Turns out, his heart isn't as broken as he thought it was.

The only problem is, now the little she-devil holds it in the palm of her hands, and she has no clue just how much power she holds.

Lani Lynn Vale did it again! Her books make you smile, laugh and cry. Her female characters are strong but also vulnerable which makes them REAL and lovable. Her male characters are strong but also lovable. I am a fan of this author because she tells the good and the bad of life as it is for most people. She takes me out of my life so I can see how these characters actually feel. All her books are great! Worth reading!!!

Another great read by LLV. I'll read anything she writes.

The back and forth caustic conversations and the natural ebb and flow of the characters relationships is so realistic that I quickly came to feel I was reading about close friends. That's what I like about Vales books. Her world and the people in it have become family to care and worry about. I always wondered where Reagan would end up and now I know. This is definitely one of my "go-to" books that will be read over and over.

Too Bad So Sad is book 5 in the Simple Man series, but each book can be read as a standalone. Tyler and Reagan couldn’t be more opposite of each other and that includes him being the hot cop and her love of breaking the law. It’s hilarious that his OCD cleans it up and leaves no trace! Too funny that even his friends called it. Not saying what it was though to avoid spoilers, but it is funny. Let’s face the facts whether it was trespassing that brought these two face to face or their friends it was bound for them to meet when it comes to the nut clan as I call them. I love seeing the secondary characters in the story and their bantering is never dull or seeing characters from another series pop in. I was almost sad to see this series end, but Lani made me and I’m sure others happy with what’s next in her writing. We got the laughter, the suspense and the chemistry that we all love and expect from our go to author. Will the she-devil show this Simple Man that the organ isn’t broken? Read the book to find out. You will not be disappointed.

I didn’t think that the shenanigans could get any better than with Janie, but I was wrong. Reagan is a whole new brand funny and opinionated. She is described as shy, but I don’t see her that way. I think she is a very strong will character, but she doesn’t trust easy and that is with very good reason. She has had some massive knocks, but she picks herself back up. Unfortunately for her, the knocks do not stop. However, she can get herself into some interesting situations, which some of them I found hilarious. Tycee is freaking awesome. I knew that he would be, but he was so much better than I had anticipated him being. He is definitely an alpha male (as if there was any doubt), and like the other men, he has a soft squishy center. But that does not stop him from letting loose and raining down on those that deserve it. When it comes to Reagan, at times he doesn’t know what to do with her or the feelings that she causes within him. I really liked the two of them and the back and forth between them. Overall, another great read from this author. The characters are very endearing and I became emotionally attached to them both. I really empathized with Reagan’s character and adored her sense of humor and take no BS attitude. I absolutely adored Groot (you gotta read about this baby!) and the moss. I would definitely recommend this, and the other books in the series. It has all that I want: passion, danger, intrigue, and some seriously unique and appealing characters. eARC through Enticing Journey Book Promotions

With every book, you crave the next one. Can't wait to see which Free Kid is next. Wondering when Payton's daughter will get her book. Curious to see what happened to Katy and Luca. Plus can you image Sam and Cheyenne's daughters. Bear Bottoms looks like a must read series, plus more baseball. Yeah.

I loved Too Bad, So Sad by Lani Lyn Vale, it had everything I want to read in a story like this. The constant amusing banter between Tyler Cree and Reagan Alvarez had me laughing out loud at times. Reagan’s determination to complete her thesis at the expense of the law gave me the giggles and left a happy smile on my face. She was one determined little lady. After being burned once, Tyler’s had enough of pretty women and steers away from relationships, not wanting to let anyone get too close. But, Reagan keeps trespassing on his property and she’s hard to ignore. But he tries anyway!! Botanist, Reagan isn’t really interested in the handsome guy who makes her feel thinks she’s not felt before. She’s not used to guys like him, give her a plant and she’s fine. But a flesh and blood specimen is a whole new arena. She understand moss not men. Tyler always follows the rules, it’s the way he lives his life and he’s happy with it. Until Reagan comes traipsing through his yard. She’s enough to make him rethink all his ideas about what he wants out of life and when hers is threatened what will he do to protect her? I loved how these two played off one another and how their friends kept pushing them together. The constant push and pull plus the chemistry were all the perfect ingredients that make a great story. I absolutely adored it and the characters and was sad to reach the end.

At face value, Tyler Cree and Reagan Rose Alvarez couldn’t be more different, and it’s not just because there’s a ten year age difference between them; it’s more due to their polar opposite personalities and Reagan’s inability to follow the letter of the law, since Tyler is a cop, because of her wild and free spirit that has her willingly taking risks regardless of the severity of the repercussions. It’s clear, though, that despite their differences, Tyler and Reagan are drawn to one another in inexplicable ways, and while Tyler can deny his attraction and maintain his distance, it’s inevitable that the chemistry sizzling between them is going to force his head, but what remains unclear is if he can see past his bitterness when it comes to the opposite sex and give his connection with Reagan a real chance or if he’ll shut down and shut out what could be the best thing he’ll ever have. There’s not a Lani Lynn Vale heroine who I haven’t liked, but some definitely stand out among the rest and I can wholeheartedly say that I have more than a bit of a girl crush on Reagan. She’s quite the complex character and she has a number of relatable characteristics that will resonate with readers. She’s shy but will defend herself and those she loves…she’s socially awkward and gets extremely anxious, but she can also own any room she walks into and with the kind of brash man that Tyler is, she isn’t afraid to tell him what’s on her mind, especially when she pisses him off. Tyler Cree is an alpha male to his core, and with the amount of near death experiences he’s had as well as his military and SWAT team background, he’s all about protecting and serving, and he’ll fight tooth and nail for his family and his friends, but because he’s been burned and broken by a conniving and cheating woman, he refuses to get in deep with another woman, especially the pain in the ass trespasser who’s all about getting what she wants by some rather creative ways. What I most love about Reagan and Tyler is that neither compromises who they are for the other one unless it’s a quality that needs some adjusting. At one point in the story, Tyler goes off on Reagan without knowing all the details that happened, which not only illustrates the differing ways they react to things but it also shows Tyler what he needs to change about himself to truly be connected to Reagan in all the ways he never knew he needed and wanted. I love the tie-in that’s always there with other characters readers are more than familiar with…Janie has been quite the instigator in putting people together, which has been established throughout other story lines, so the fact that she’s up to it again when it comes to Tyler and Reagan’s relationship works nicely in this story and it forces the couple to face their true feelings for one another. I would have liked to have seen a bit more insight into the reasons behind Tyler’s struggles and what makes him finally take a step forward rather than backwards as well as a closer look at the two sides of Reagan’s personality and how they work together since they’re on complete opposite sides of the spectrum. But the lack of further explanations didn’t deter my enjoyment of the story because the plot line flowed well and the characters’ interactions and internal musings allowed me to understand quite a bit about both Tyler and Reagan.

Will this be another review filled with me bouncing off the walls in excitement and happiness? . . . Yes. Yes it will! I devoured Too Bad So Sad in one sitting. Which is pretty much the norm for me with anything Lani Lynn Vale writes if I’m being honest. There’s just nothing quite like Lani’s writing with her unique brand of humor, suspense, heart melting romance, and heat all of which is overflowing in Too Bad So Sad. I found myself swinging from cracking up to swooning and everything in between while reading this. Reagan and Tyler have sparks flying the second they meet and that electricity doesn’t slow down throughout the entire book. Every encounter filled with fantastic banter as these two try to deny the pull between them until it explodes with some serious heat! I adored Reagan and her inability to follow rules and sassy personality made her so much fun to read. Tyler just as wonderful. Despite his grumpy ways he was actually a great big sweetheart when it came to Reagan. As always, I don’t want to give to much away because spoilers suck, but Too Bad So Sad is full of as much suspense and action along with moments you do not want to miss as it is full of some seriously fantastic romance!

We were introduced to Reagan Rose Alvarez in Kill Shot, which featured her father, Bennett Alvarez. In that book, we could tell she was a hand full, determined, full of fire. In Too Bad So Sad, we see another side to Reagan. Reagan grew up surrounded by love. She had an amazing father, a stepmother that loved her, a brother and sister that would do anything for her. She was also surrounded by protective "uncles" that always watched out for her. Her child hood was idyllic, but left her naive and protected from the bad things that can happen in the world. She fell prey to a man who did not have her best interest at heart an she didn't cope with that very well. Tyler is a man scorned. He has been burned by a woman and has no intentions of ever letting one get close enough to do any damage. There is just something about Reagan that he can't ignore. But he still tries to! The interactions between Reagan and Tyler had me laughing until I cried. Once I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down. I loved the updates we were given about Reagan's parents, brother and sister. I'm loving the stories about all of the kids, all grown up. Its a fun spin on the stories we've been given in the past. I'm also loving the glimpses we got from the Bear Bottom Guardians, and can't wait for their stories! They promise to be fabulous!
