It either means he has someone for us to terminate, or I am going to terminate him for wasting my time.
Even though it says “TOM CLANCY” in the biggest possible letters on the front, this is, in fact, written by Mark Greaney, which was a cause of concern for me until I realized he had actually written three previous novels with Clancy. Tom Clancy was an amazing writer and I must say I can’t really tell that he didn’t write this one, and I mean that as a large compliment to Greaney. Maybe Clancy could have written it better, who knows, but I’m happy to report that Mark Greaney is a worthy successor to the Tom Clancy/Jack Ryan brand.
I’ve always marveled at how these books can have such a large cast and epic plot and still cook along at a gotta-read-the-next-chapter-now pace. This one has some nice parallels to The Hunt For Red October as a sneaky russian sub is up to no good, and guess what? time is a factor. Besides the mounting threat of full-scale war, I am always happy when anyone from Rainbow Six (my favorite Clancy book) shows up such as Clark and Chavez. This was a great book and I won’t hesitate to read any other novel I find with Mark Greaney’s name attached.

I enjoyed the book. When I first picked it up, i said it will take me a while. 788 pages in mass paperback. That being said the book moves at a fast pace and I finished in 9 days.

Too much archaic history. No plot.
