I love serial killer stories with a paranormal twist, and “Time to Die” certainly didn’t dissapoint. Jennifer Knight is one of the most intriguing detectives I’ve read about lately, and despite being strong and intelligent, I enjoyed how she also had some flaws. The serial killer in question was intriguing too, and I enjoyed how the author included tarot cards into the story. As a tarot reader, I loved seeing my two hobbies mix! The story was suspenseful from start to end, and I’m already looking forward to the next book. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Well, this was my first book by Caroline Mitchell and while I won't say it was totally gripping, it did have its moments. And, yes there was a jaw dropping surprise at the end! I really liked the book and the villain in this book was more than just creepy. I could not imagine going up to this dude and sitting there waiting for him to tell me my past, present and future through Tarot cards. That had to take several minutes and ummmm, yep nope, not gonna do it. I really liked all the characters except for Zoe, she's hiding something and I just don't trust her. I found the book interesting and enjoyable and like I said there were some page turning moments that did induce some blood pressure testing issues, but those were rare in this book. However, I still liked the book and would definitely recommend it. All these people that the creep read for each had a deep secret and it's interesting to find out what those secrets are. A huge thanks to Bookouture and Net Galley for providing a free e-galley in exchange for an honest review!

I just finished Time to Die by Caroline Mitchell. It is the second book in the Jennifer Knight Crime Thriller series. DC Jennifer Knight works in Operation Moonlight. A special division that deals in the supernatural (the unit members also have special skills). Jennifer and her partner, DC Will Dunston have been called out to a scene. A man is dead just after a stranger read his fortune using tarot cards (and predicted his death). Did the tarot reader have something to do with the man’s death? Then another person is dead and again the tarot reader was mentioned. Who is this man? The tarot reader is only known as The Raven. He reads your fortune (past, present, and future) and it will come true. Is he really predicting the future or is he helping it along? Does The Raven have anything to do with the cult The Reborners? The Reborners is for people looking for a second chance at life. They also encourage crime (shoplifting, dealing drugs). Is The Raven the leader of the cult? Jennifer Knight is being targeted by The Raven. He is sending her notes with a black raven’s feather enclosed. The notes help provide her with psychic clues. Jennifer is going to have to work hard to catch The Raven. Will she catch him in time to prevent the death of someone close to her? I enjoyed reading Time to Die. It has a great twist at the end (if you follow the clues you will be able to figure out). I enjoyed the supernatural element in the book along with the mystery. There is also a little romance. It is well-written and keeps the reader’s attention. There is also a part with raven’s that is creepy! I give Time to Die 4.25 out of 5 stars. I look forward to reading Caroline Mitchell’s next book. I received a complimentary copy of Time to Die from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Wickedly wonderful well-written police procedural with paranormal elements and mysterious happenings has DC Jennifer Knight and her colleagues on the lookout for a serial murderer in Haven. All who end up dead have had their fortunes read through Tarot cards used by the same person - Raven. There are some who believe that the person doing the readings might be connected to a flaky religious group. Most of the Operation Moonlight team have paranormal talents of some sort and use their abilities when needed to help solve police cases. I have not read this author before and it took me about a chapter or two to get into the flow of the writing. Once engaged I had trouble stopping last night to get a few hours of sleep before starting to read again this morning. There were a few twists I was not expecting and for a person who reads the end of most books first this was a nice surprise. There is a lot more to the team of Jennifer, Will, Claire, Ethan and Zoe that will hopefully be explored in future books. The groundwork for the next case Jennifer will be sent to work on is mentioned at the end of this book and I look forward to finding out what has happened to the missing twin. Great writing, great characters, great plot…just a great story overall. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the copy of this book to read and review. 4.5 Stars
