Personally, I found this story to be very childish and tired in its exploration of adolescence. It's like so many other stories out there about children longing to be with or like the others. To be frank, this is a story only suitable for children, as this is a lesson they should learn. However, seeing this on high school curriculum list upsets me and makes me a little angry. Our high schoolers should, and hopefully are, past this kind of thinking and mentality.

It is about Opportunities in Life and gaining truth for oneself, being brave and foolish like a razor's edge but coming out of an experience haveing prepared wisely and with patience and taking chances , risks to reach a goal or character fondation. It may not seem like opportunites that are before us as tests and trials but when the Call stirs Soul It Knows it must face itself and move toward it or rest on the beach with the rest of the masses ! This is the way I see the Book . It has many parrellels to one's life no matter how routine it is..use you creativity to see the challenge and meet it somehow in your own way .Give your self a deadline but make it also at your own pace meaning very realistic ... I Love this author for her Argos series One through Five early works !
