In 1968, I was in the Seattle Airport waiting to go to Alaska to work in the oil field. I was 21 year old, had two children in Texas. I had a high school education, which is still the only formal education me or my wife have every received. I was broke and my only prospects were working in the oil field the rest of my life. I bought two books that day that changed my life. Think and Grow Rich; and How to Win Friends and Influence People. Over the next year working in weather down to 70 below zero my life changed from the information I received from these two books. I was no longer on a road to nowhere. I had a goal. We goal now was to have a well round life and become a millionaire. I am 62 years old now. My Net Worth is around 10 million dollars. I am currently an investor. I owe three companies that others run for me. I own the real estate that these companies sat on. My office is in my home. I average working about one hour a day before I go to the golf course. My wife works about an hour per day at her office in our house. We choose to spend that time checking on our businesses. My wife plays tennis most every day. We vacation 6 or 8 times a year. We have been married 43 years. Our family life is great. Last week we took our children and grand children to Disney World for a week. Life for us is very very good. If I had stayed on the path I was headed in, I would be lucky to be alive. Working in the oil field in Alaska's North Slope was very dangerous. My family life was not all that good when I read these two books. I encourage you to read these two books at least three times each and apply the principles they give you. These books changed my life to one of great happiness and prosperity. I hope they do the same for you.

Think and Grow Rich: The Complete Classic Text [the original version of the book copyrighted 1937] is a gift from the publisher to fans of Napoleon Hill's teachings and writings. I had read the 1960 Copyright version literally 12 times cover to cover, and I also have read Think and Grow Rich: The 21st-Century Edition. It was a treat to read the original version, written back in the midst of the Great Depression, and with hints/signs of a recovery in the air [applicable to our own times in 2008-2009]. To Napoleon Hill, a Positive Mental Attitude and thought control of one's own mind by will-power are all-important to personal success. The six-step dynamic plan to convert desire for riches into their financial equivalent on pages 26-27 is alone worth the price of this landmark book, and can be used for any goal, financial or otherwise.

This book should be on every bookshelf in every home. The principles that are taught in this book "Think and grow Rich" are more about the directions of life than just the collection of riches. This is a book that needs to be digested and not simply read casually. Eternalize this book and you will give your life new direction and meaning.

Napoleon Hill was a consultant living in the White House when FDR was leading the nation through the Great Depression. It was while he was in the White House that Hill wrote Think and Grow Rich. More than twenty years before, Hill was commissioned by the richest man in the world at the time, Andrew Carnegie, to research and develop a philosophy of success so that every person didn't have to learn through the hard process of trial and error every time. Carnegie thought it was a shame that the accumulated know-how of each successful man went the grave with him. Carnegie gave Hill letters of introduction to five hundred of the most successful people in the country - Henry Ford, John Wanamaker, Thomas Edison, and the list goes on - and Hill interviewed these men extensively, sometimes living with them for a time. I'm the author of the book, Self-Help Stuff That Works, and I am an expert on what is effective. The principles Hill put in Think and Grow Rich will definitely help you become successful.

This is one of the greatest self-help books ever, back in the the original 1937 text. Next to the Bible, this is my favorite book. I was introduced to Think and Grow Rich when I read former world champion and International Boxing Hall of Famer Ken Norton's autobiography entitled 'Going the Distance.' Norton shared in his book that he read Think & Grow Rich repeatedly and it changed his life. Norton's book states he was given Think & Grow Rich to read after he suffered his first boxing defeat and had to start over. Norton then went on a fourteen fight winning streak that lasted over three years, including a huge upset over Muhammed Ali for the heavyweight title. This is an outstanding book that embodies Andrew Carnigie's philosophy of achievement to help individuals reach their full potential and succeed. Think and Grow Rich is one of the all time greats.

Under organized and specialized knowledge this book explains how a person can assess any lacks of knowledge or weaknesses in making their plan. Henry Ford had next to no education yet at the push of a button could summon the right person to supply him with any amount of knowledge he required. The same is true in todays world with the advent of the internet. The first thing you need is a positive attitude which supercedes any negatives. Nothing is perfect and one can find faults with anything if they so choose.

I cannot say enough about how the principles in this book have literally changed my life. Mr. Hill has helped me open my mind and begin thinking and acting in ways that are beyond the space alloted here. Any of my friends or business acquaintances who have read this book have all experienced positive changes when the parctice what is in the book. It is best to read it through first. I know you will want to stop all the time. Have a pad and pen with you for the second reading. The ideas and inspiration can be overwhelming. I also purchased it on Audio CD and listen to is while driving; along with some of his other works. I can never go back and I don't wish to either. It will change your life for the better if you follow through with whatever happens when you read it.

The thirteen steps presented by Mr. Hill are to the point and very honest. His book is not some egotistical scam for our money, thank goodness. I should think that any one who is supposedly 'down on his luck' needs to purchase this book and maybe redirect his steps.

...want to succeed in life and in business! This is a classic book. Before the so called "success gurus" around today. Napoleon Hill is the ORIGINAL success motivator. I've personally read the book Think And Grow Rich numerous times. I asked for (and received) the original CD of the book so that I could listen to and be inspired while I am driving. I can't imagine anyone listening to this CD and not being inspired! Mr. Hill's story is truly fascinating. If you've never read the need to own the book AND the CD! Surround yourself with his teachings! And do yourself a favor...stick with the original recording. The 21st Century version is okay...but doesn't beat the original.

This book has the plan for achieving more than wealth - for achieving whatever you desire. Certainly, you can apply the principles within with an eye towards creating wealth, but you can apply the same principles towards improving your life, finding a job, getting in shape, whatever you want. When I look back at the things I have accomplished in my life, and the things I have failed to accomplish in my life, I see that I used the principles in this book without even knowing them. Basic fundamental stuff for reaching you goals, whatever they may be, it is well worth the investment.

Think and Grow Rich claims to reveal the secret of Andrew Carnegie's success. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't, but the secret appears to be something along the lines of 'have a goal and work really hard to meet it.' Hill stresses the importance of a positive mental attitude, and makes a convincing case that one's subconscious mind is at least partially responsible for one's success and failures in life. At times, the book wanders into some unusual territories (armchair psychology, paranormal phenomena) but it was probably considered 'cutting edge' 70 years ago when it was first published. As for the title, it's probably worth mentioning that the concepts imparted by the book don't necessarily have to do with material wealth but could be applied to just about any endeavor.

There are some very helpful recommendations in this book such as visualizing and affirming your success. A positive attitude is considered almighty. But written later, two excellent books, Learned Optimism by Martin Seligman explains the advantages and disadvantages of pessimism and optimism and Optimal Thinking: How To Be Your Best Self shows you how to make the most of your thinking, any situation, your life and career. I would read all three books.

I picked this book up on my way to ordering THE RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON. I figured, it's not that expensive and it has a catchy title. Little did I know that this book would change my life and mindset. I recommended it to everyone I could think of, but only a few jumped on it and were as excited as I was. You will get out of this book what you expect. Be OPEN and prepared to make the ultimate mind shift!

I have owned this book for years, but I recently have discovered another, newer version that is far superior. It is 'Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised' published by Aventine Press. For one thing it is a bigger book, both in size and in pages (412). It turns out that the book that this review is about is an abridged version of the original, something I never knew in all the times I have read it over the years. This smaller version, while good, contains nothing like the additional information in the 'Restored and Revised' version. There is just a ton of fascinating facts and information in the back of the book. In the older book (the plain 'Think and Grow Rich'), the print is difficult to read, there is little space for writing notes. The newer version reads better and by comparison is a far more useful learning instrument. Napoleon Hill's work is probably the most important ever done in the motivational and self-improvement field. Whichever version you read, it will change your life forever.
