Overview

Bogus Trumpeter, a wayward knight-errant in the battle of the sexes, has a serious problem, and he has only his "weapon" to blame. Due to a birth defect, or a nonspecific kind of infection, or a strain of venereal disease, Trumpter suffers from a recurring urinary tract blockage. Four alternatives present themselves as possible solutions to his problem: drugs, no sex, surgery, or "the water method." As if this were not enough, Trumpeter's life is further complicated by a wife who wants out and a mistress who wants a baby!

A funny and short novel, and a nice change from Irving's usual story elements, i.e. bears and wrestling.

it was laugh-out-loud funny. and cause trumper is dealing with "the real world" in his own way i could definatly relate to him on so many levels. it was classic irving- all the normal themes: lust, infedelity, parental relationships, being a father, travel, sex... you get the idea. it would be cool if irving wrote from a woman's point of view... i wonder what he would have to say....

I have read 100+ pages into this book and I have no idea what is going on and I am also turned off by the use of curse words.

Awesome book. One of my first 10 novels in English, but I thought the book was great. I didn't really feel that bogus solved his serious issues though. I thought it was too easy. Hope I was helpful...
