"Part romance, part mystery, part magic; all of which a joy to read." - Dreamer J's Book Reviews

"This story has everything I look for in a quality, entertaining piece of fiction. 1) A strong female lead, 2) a dark and mysterious male character (I admit, they are my weakness), 3) eloquent writing, and 4) lots of quirky humor and banter." - Danaye from Young @ Art book reviews

"a page-turner with great characters." 5 stars from Hooked On Books

"Loved, loved, loved this book." 5 stars from Eriegirl218

"What an absolutely fun read! This story had me captivated from beginning to end and eagerly awaiting the next book! Loved it! Mystery, and magic, with another great female lead!" 5 stars from Tjuliannev

India Steele is desperate. Her father is dead, her fiancé took her inheritance, and no one will employ her, despite years working for her watchmaker father. Indeed, the other London watchmakers seem frightened of her. Alone, poor, and at the end of her tether, India takes employment with the only person who'll accept her - an enigmatic and mysterious man from America. A man who possesses a strange watch that rejuvenates him when he's ill.

Matthew Glass must find a particular watchmaker, but he won't tell India why any old one won't do. Nor will he tell her what he does back home, and how he can afford to stay in a house in one of London's best streets. So when she reads about an American outlaw known as the Dark Rider arriving in England, she suspects Mr. Glass is the fugitive. When danger comes to their door, she's certain of it. But if she notifies the authorities, she'll find herself unemployed and homeless again - and she will have betrayed the man who saved her life.

With a cast of quirky characters, an intriguing mystery, and a dash of romance, THE WATCHMAKER'S DAUGHTER is the start of a thrilling new historical fantasy series from the author of the bestselling Ministry of Curiosities, Freak House, and Emily Chambers Spirit Medium books.

From the first page The Watchmaker's Daughter grabs your attention and doesn't let go. India Steele is a brilliant, independent, and loyal young woman whose life has fallen apart. Barging into her late father's shop to confront her ex-fiance takes an unexpected turn and India is soon embroiled in an adventure...and a mystery. Matthew Glass is a man on a mission. With the aid of strange companions, he seeks a particular watchmaker. With India's assistance they just may find him. A fast-paced, loud out loud humorous, clean romantic adventure appropriate for ages 11-111. And as I believe all book reviews should include this information, there are 215 pages in this book on my e-reader. I loved the elements of steampunk in this book. The characters were believeable and compelling; I wanted them to triumph! The romantic tension was not overwhelming and definitely added a fun dynamic to the storyline. The minute I finished it I went back to the beginning and read it again. Cannot wait for book two! If you have enjoyed CJ Archer's other books, you are sure to love this one as well. I received an ARC for my honest review.

Almost didnt read this book because of one review that said it ended on a major cliffhanger. So not a fan of those. Looking forward to reading the next in this series because I'm invested in the characters and anxious to see what's next for them. This book is a fun mystery with a bit of romance and a little twist of magic thrown in. I'd call it a light read because 1... While it's a joy to read you can put it down without going nuts and simply look forward to getting back to it again. 2... It's a mystery that's minus the ugly parts and has romance without the smutt. Because of these reasons I think this book is a rare gem.

The heroine is smart, plucky & irrepressible despite being thrown out in the streets after her watchmaker father dies. Her story is full of mystery, magic, & danger. It swirls around a broken watch, India's superb skill as a watchmaker, & a handsome man who's life is full of dark secrets but is also capable of kindness.

I liked the book, It just took awhile to get to the point. Also, would have loved to see a little more romance between India and Matt. Sometimes can be sexist but I have to remember this takes place in a different time. Interested to know what’s next.... hopefully it’s Free....

200 plus pages of a good mystery but with an abrupt ending which is irritating. It makes it necessary to purchase the next book,I suppose to find out whether it will reveal theclue. Lml
