About the Author
Michael Carter grew up around stones. His father, Ray Carter, has produced beautiful memorials in middle Tennessee for nearly half a century. Michael learned the art of designing and lettering granite and marble alongside his father. While attending graduate school, Michael worked with another monument firm in Memphis,Tn. After receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Memphis, Michael spent 20 years as a classroom teacher, teaching art to students ranging from Kindergarten to University level. Today Michael and his wife Teresa live in South Carolina, where they spend their days painting and writing.
