'Glory', as such, is simply a representation or manifestation of God's presence. In the Scriptures it is frequently represented by light, something that in darkness is most evident. But it is not only light that signifies God is represented in a certain place, face or time. God Himself doesn't need glory; in fact He doesn't need anything.
