Overview

Short tales about deadly books, by top mystery authors

An ancient scroll draws a bookseller into a chilling mystery.

Monty Danforth finds the tin buried beneath a shipment of leather-bound classics. Inside is a millennia-old vellum manuscript written in an unfamiliar but unmistakably ancient language. Danforth tries to photocopy and photograph it, but he ends up with blank images, as though the ink were made of something impervious to modern technology. As the scroll’s mystery enchants him, this hapless bookseller falls into a cutthroat conspiracy that he may never escape.

Soon a dead-eyed old man and his granddaughter come calling for the scroll. Danforth refuses to sell them the manuscript, but they will not be the last to demand it. Powerful forces crave the secrets locked within this ancient document, and Danforth will survive only if he can master its power.

I don't understand the reviewer who was upset over the length... it's pretty clear from the details and the cover this is a short story... but hey, you can't please everyone... luckily, I was very pleased... Anne Perry is a great storyteller and this was a good read... apparently this is part of a series?... looking forward to seeing more!!!

Written only in 30 pages Ann Perry delivers a fully detailed mystery. Fun read for sure.

I loved the concept of the blurb promoting this ebook, but it was my first foray into the Bibliomysteries, which are apparently very short. I frankly wanted MORE! I did enjoy what was there.

This was a great book that grabs you with wonder and intrigue. The mystery arises when a scroll is discovered and and many people want it and yet it is written in a language no one can read. How do you decide who gets it when each buyer carries with them warnings about what can happen if it falls into the wrong hands? A must read, a grand read and one you won't want to put down until the very end. Anne Perry at her best! A great book for book club discussions!

Pretty good for what it was. Just a short story about a mystery surrounding an ancient scroll. It got a little preachy for my tastes, but I hadn't made the biblio-bible connection (I took "bibliomysteries" as in "bibliotech" instead of "bible"). Over all, an okay short with an intriguing mystery.

I can always count on Anne Perry to come thorough. Even though this is different from what I am use to from her I enjoyed it and wanted more.

The first 34 pages of this mystery appear interesting. Not purchasing the entire book at this time but I am exploring the Bibliomysteries from the unexplored MysteriousPress website with great interest for other choices as well.
