About the Author

For a number of years I have worked as an IT Contractor and previous to this have worked in the Sales & Marketing and Import & Export sectors, all for many large blue-chip companies. This experience has opened my eyes to the various types of business processes that exist in the workplace and how fundamental technology and communication is in our lives. Having used and supported numerous different systems, methods and technologies, these were the foundations & building blocks when writing this book.

I first came across shorthand, when my father started running TB Training Materials - a business supplying shorthand dictation materials & books - taking over from Trevor Burton's lifelong dedicated work and continuing to promote shorthand learning skills. Trevor was a great teacher in the various forms of shorthand, especially Teeline & Pitman and his recordings are still helping students learn today. Whilst assisting my father with TB project work, it was during this time that I discovered the potential uses of shorthand, but realised the shortcomings of the current systems and that a need for change was required if the mass public was to ever take shorthand seriously. This is the reason why I have written this book.

The city landscape picture on the front of the book is of Manchester, England, where I hail from.
