Overview

A few years ago, I had no clue I would be living at "the Pond."
The Pond on most days is a place of quiet beauty. Other days may bring the power of a thunderstorm with the excitement of bright lightening. In the summer the evenings can be quite loud with the song of the bullfrogs, chirping of crickets and sometimes even the barks and howls of coyotes. However, at any time the hand of the Creator can be seen at the Pond.
I never knew so many lessons could be gleaned from nature, but I have learned much of God and His Son Jesus from unlikely characters such as crows, hummingbirds, and even a snake!
Time spent at the pond renews my spirit and my prayer is that through this little book you may experience the beauty, power, and the creatures all created by our Heavenly Father for us, his children, as if you too were seated on my back porch!
My desire, through God's hand, is to bring you, the reader, into a closer walk with God the Father. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior I pray that the words in The Pond will enable you to see and feel the love of Jesus and create a desire to know Him in a personal relationship.
God's Word tells us there is only one way to eternal life and that is found in John 14:6: "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
Now bring your chair or blanket and come sit by the Pond with me and discover the God who loves you so!

About the Author

The Pond is the first book for Lucy. She has always felt it easier to write her thoughts and feelings than to vocalize them. Having been in church since childhood, Lucy became a Christian at thirteen years of age. For nearly forty years, Lucy has been a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Rockingham, North Carolina where she has served in several positions. Most recently, co-facilitating a study of Francis Chans Crazy Love. It was during this study that she realized God was urging her to write things she was encountering at the pond on the family’s property. It seemed watching the wildlife and family activities around the pond could teach a spiritual lesson. Thus, the devotions began. Lucy’s career has always been centered on customer service because of her love for people. It wasn’t always so, in the early years Lucy was very shy, a fact she enjoys sharing and most find it hard to believe. Her desire is to reach people for Christ and she is prayerful that The Pond will do just that. Lucy and her husband, Brooks have been married since 1976, and are the parents of two grown children, both of whom are married. We have been blessed with two wonderful children and then God saw fit to add to our family a wonderful son-in-law and daughter-in-law, says Lucy. Living in North Carolina allows Lucy to enjoy both the beach and mountains, but she also enjoys traveling outside of her home state when given the opportunity. The family also enjoys boating and fishing when they are not gathered at the Allen home enjoying just being at the pond.
