They say you learn from mistakes ... but what if they're not your own?

After four Seasons and no prospects, Lady Samantha is resigned to life as a spinster. Her aunt, Caroline Fitzsimmons, Viscountess Chamberlain, insists they set sail to Italy for a tour she hopes might allow her charge to meet and marry a European aristocrat.

His mines having suffered a multitude of disasters, Ethan Range, Marquess of Plymouth, is determined to secure a recent invention from an Italian count to alleviate the danger of fires. He's none to happy to discover Lady Chamberlain traveling on the same ship as he is to Rome. He knows her secret and is rather incensed she's been able to hide Samantha's true past from the ton.

While taking a late-night stroll on deck, Samantha is confronted by the scowling marquess. Incensed by his assertion that Caroline is really her mother, Samantha barely has time to slap the man before a sudden storm sends a wave of water onto the ship, washing them both overboard.

Forced to save each other, the two end up as castaways on a deserted island in the Mediterranean. Although they face perils a plenty during the week they're stranded, they have far more to fear from one another than from hunger, weather, and pirates. Can the two overcome their circumstances and realize the mistakes of the past are not their own? Or will their week on the island lead to more turbulence? The heart may be the best life preserver in The Passion of a Marquess.

Samantha is on a trip since she gave up on the marriage prospects. Ethan Range is on a trip to get equipment for his mines. When they are on the ship a huge wave takes them and strands them. They do find safety of an island. Samantha is very knowledgeable especially about the island they get stuck on thanks to her friend’s brother. They are able to survive and get back to society. There is obviously more to the story but I did not want to give away too many spoilers. I read the first book in this series so I recognized a couple of characters. Samantha did not get up to as many shenanigans as she did in the first book with her friends. I did like the book though and will try to find more from this author because it was a pleasant read. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review. The opinions in this review are 100% my own

Reviewed by Maureen Dangarembizi for Readers' Favorite The Passion Of A Marquess by Linda Rae Sande is a historical romance set in early nineteenth century England. After several seasons without a proposal, Lady Samantha Fitzsimmons is almost on the shelf. She embarks on a tour of Italy, hoping that she will catch the eye of a foreign noble. Ethan Range, Marquess of Plymouth, is on a mission to save his mines, but is instead swept off the deck of a ship during a violent storm, plunging into the sea with Lady Samantha Fitzsimmons, no less. Sent adrift by the waves, they land on a deserted island. Chemistry sparks and soon the marooned couple finds themselves in a sizzling hot affair. In the Marquess’ arms, Lady Samantha knows unprecedented passion. But a misunderstanding sends Ethan running to his dreary Yorkshire castle. Will he stay there when he learns that the love of his life is about to be claimed by another? The Passion Of A Marquess has two lovely side stories that are as interesting as the main storyline. The secondary characters are as important as the main couple and make for many hilarious situations. It is funny and filled with delightful romantic scenes. Linda Rae Sande’s heroine has an interesting mix of innocence and independence that drives the story. There is a hint of mystery as the heroine tries to work out who she truly is and work out her future. There is no boring moment in this book and lots of sexy scenes between the hero and heroine.
