The Hale family is obsessed with status, power, and control. No problem is too big their money can't solve.

Royce Hale manipulated me into giving him everything. My virginity. My hand in marriage. My heart.

And as soon as he got what he wanted, he callously sold me off for a cool ten million.

In the boardroom and the twisted game his family plays, he says the only rule is to win at all costs.

Yesterday I learned a painful lesson not to trust the prince of Cape Hill. Today I'll destroy his carefully laid plans and show him just how badly he's already lost.

All the money in the world won't be able to stop me.

The Obsession is the second book of the Filthy Rich Americans trilogy and should be read following The Initiation.

About the Author

USA Today bestselling author Nikki Sloane landed in graphic design after her careers as a waitress, a screenwriter, and a ballroom dance instructor fell through. For eight years she worked for a design firm in that extremely tall, black, and tiered building in Chicago that went through an unfortunate name change during her time there.

Now she lives in Kentucky, is married and has two sons. She is a three-time Romance Writers of America RITA© Finalist, a Passionate Plume winner, a HOLT Medallion finalist, and couldn't be any happier that people enjoy reading her sexy words.

Literally finished this book in like 2 days, but if I had a day with out getting back to reality, I would have finished it in one sitting. I feel conflicted whether to feel pity or angry at Macalister. But the way things progressed it really mind numbs you. I'm glad to have found this and can't wait till the last book of the trilogy comes out. Which is like a week away!

Nikki Sloane’s has me Obsessed with The Obsession! Nikki Sloane’s took The Initation and ramped it up even more and gave us The Obsession. It picks up right where The Initiation left us and we get so see how Marist deals with the shocking deal made between Royce and Macalister and how by making this deal Royce might’ve pushed Marist away forever. After the deal Marist must find her way through this family and play the game or get steam rolled. I’ve got to say all through this book i kept thinking something would happen and then it would turn a different direction and it kept me on my toes. It has the traditional forbidden erotic element as all of Nikki’s books have. Since you’ve read The initiation, you know just how kinky of a situation Marist can find herself in. it was really only one instance towards the end that was really and OMG moment. Well in The Obsession it’s more spread throughout the book as we get deeper and deeper into what the Hales want, specifically one patriarch. The Obsession left me wanting more and the ultimatum that was given at the end of this book makes me secretly hope she takes it. Like I said forbidden erotic element is a major player in this book. Throughout this book we see and learn much more of the hales. Especially the patriarch of the family, Macalister. Macalister never plays a game that he doesn’t already know he’s going to win and with her deal that Marist is making he’s slowly closing all the doors to her freedom and drawing her closer to where he wants her, in his bed. Will Marist finally be able to beat him at his own game? Or will she make the wrong move and end up where he wants her. Where’s Royce you might ask? busy off making his secretive moves. While we see Royce in this book to me it seemed like he took a back seat in most of this story. It was really about Marist finding herself and learning that she can handle anything that gets thrown at her, even Macalister Hale. There was something in the book that Marist explaining about chess. How it was really three games in one the beginning, middle game and the end game. It made me think that is what this whole trilogy is. The initiation was the opening, it gave Marist her first true taste at the manipulative lengths the Hale family is willing to go to get what they each individually want. The Obsession is the middle game. The hales have made their first move and now it’s time for Marist to either join the game and fight for what she wants or to be nothing but pawn between father and son. And I’m assuming The Deception, the final book in the filthy rich American series will be classified as the end game. Where everything comes to a head and they all play their final cards and see who will be on top and who will have crumbled.

The second installment of Filthy Rich America's series continues Marist and Royce's journey. This is not your typical love story. The Obsession has more of a focus on how Marist handles her relationship with Royce's father and the effects this has on her relationship with Royce. The way that this family dynamic works is far from typical, and can be highly unsavory. This said there is something with Nikki's way with words that wants you craving more. This book finishes with a cliff hanger which will be wrapped up in the conclusion of the Filthy Rich Americans series The Deception coming November 5th.

I went into this not fully realizing it was a trilogy and not a duet. Disclaimer: You MUST read The Initiation first and after this one you will NEEEEEED Deception! This story is so captivating. Each actor in this drama is so vivid and real you absolutely forgot you are reading and become so completely absorbed that you are hanging on every moment. Marist is trying to navigate this world of lies, greed, lust, and power while maintaining her own sanity and moral compass. Royce seems to be trying to do the same, but you are never quite sure of his true intentions. Then there is the patriarch. Oh my. Macalister is so evil he is amazing! I was so focused on the dynamic between Royce and his father that....all I will say is I didn’t see it coming! Way to go, Nikki. I’m breathless for Deception.

Holy Smokin' story hell. When Nikki Sloane ups the stakes, she doesn’t hold back. If you thought things couldn’t get any hotter, dirtier or more deviant than ‘The Initiation’ (Part 1 of ‘Filthy Rich Americans’), you’d be wrong. So, so wrong. Marist and Royce have fought and struggled to be together. To be just another young couple falling in love, but Macalister is having none of that. The man is in the very words of the book. Obsessed. He’s a dirty and depraved soul but it makes some taboo-ish, filthy scenes. Royce is working hard to beat his father, but somehow, Macalister seems to be two steps ahead of his son in every move. He’s trying to make Marist his by forcing her to spend time with him, but she’s not an easy catch. This book was fast-paced, hot, sinfully dirty and oh, so delicious when Marist and Royce got to be alone. Macalister might think he’s the better man, but we and Marist see the truth. But watch out, there’s a sting in this tale, one you won’t see coming. Can’t wait for the conclusion to this series. Bring on ‘The Deception’.
