Overview

Millions of readers have fallen in love with Ava's bestselling books...come join the family.

International Bestselling Author Ava Miles shares a heartwarming prequel about two of Dare Valley's favorite characters and their early journey falling in love.

Abbie Maven is every bit a lady.

Rhett Butler Blaylock doesn't mingle much with ladies.

Being a professional poker player, the only lady he spends time with is Lady Luck. Yet, despite their differences, he can't fight the temptation of getting closer to Abbie. He imagines she smells as fresh as a hot July peach and tastes even more tantalizing.

She makes him want to be a better man.

Abbie can't ignore her brother's best friend--the man who makes her son laugh. They are as different as ocean and desert, and yet she can't stop her heart from opening to him... Or her body. Someone had destroyed both a long time ago. Rhett makes her come alive again.

They strike a bargain: a secret relationship on her terms. Behind closed doors, everything is perfect. But his poker persona as a bad boy undermines everything she's raising her son to believe in. Abbie has to decide: are moonlight serenades enough?

Book 11 in the Dare Valley Series!! This is a wonderful book. A sweet story told by Rhett Butler Blaylock to his beautiful daughter Clara about how her parents met and fell in love. Rhett and Abbie had such a hard time getting together it was a treasure getting to hear his version of their Moonlight Serenade. I received an e book for the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated and all conclusions are my own.

A great short read by Ava! The "Wild Card" Poker Champ Rhett Butler Blaylock and "Prim and Proper" Abbie Maven. Longtime friend of Mac Maven, fellow poker champion, Rhett had spent quite a bit of time with their family, including Abbie's teenage son, Dustin. Dustin thought Brett was great and found his flamboyant ways "cool." Abbie did not seem to find him charming at all. "The Moonlight Serenade" tells us how Abbie and Rhett really felt about one another. There is more to Rhett that meets the eye. The crazy persona he plays at the poker table is to intimidate other players and that is all Abbie sees. Due to traumatic events in Abbie's past, she has focused he life on her son and her brother; there is no room for anything else. Ava takes us back and shows us how Rhett breaks through Abbie's tough veneer. And he breaks through with love. He shows her that he isn't the man at the poker tables; that there is more to him. And through this, Abbie finds that she doesn't have to be "proper" all the time. With Rhett, Abbie finds the can let loose- that she can be free again. Ava has a wonderful way of weaving a story and making you a part of the story!

This was the hero's point of view from the story told in The Holiday Serenade (Dare Valley, #4). I love Abbie and Rhett's story, so I was excited to hear it from Rhett's point of view. Unfortunately what I got, as an avid Miles reader, was simply that, the same story with a different dose of romance and heartache. Since Ava has featured Rhett in many of her other books, he has a strong voice and the telling is authentically him as he shares the story of "us" with his daughter. All of the things Ava does well are still in this book, but for readers who have been with her since Nora Roberts Land (Dare Valley, #1), we are ready for something different. Since it was a retelling, it is shorter than other novels in the series. If you are looking to try out Ava before committing, then read this book! It has all of the signature pieces we've come to expect from her. Once you do, I'm sure you'll fall in love and start from the beginning. I received this book in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

A sweet look at the start of one of my favorite couples! Rhett has been one of my favorite characters throughout Ms. Miles' books (isn't he everyone's?!) and being able to read about the start of him and Abbie falling in love was wonderful! I love being able to really delve into the backstory of characters, to see how they got to where they are. I can't wait to read about the next couple! Oh Rhett Butler Blaylock, you could easily talk yourself into any woman's heart. Moonlight Serenade is a look back on the courtship of Abbie and Rhett. It is a very fast paced book. We start finding Rhett sweet talking to his new daughter Clara. Rhett loves to talk and tell stories. Rhett is also a professional poker player. Rhett is telling the story of how he and Abbie fell in love. How Abbie was able to come out of her shell and is now a relaxed and playful woman. How he almost lost Abbie because they were a secret. A very light and happy story. I could listen to Rhett talk all day. Swoon..... I received an ebook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. Who would not fall in love with Rhett Butler Blaylock!!! The story of how he won the woman he loved for his wife has nothing to do with poker, but a classic tale of hearts. Having been introduced to him in an earlier Ava Miles book, I was glad to see the full story about the woman who won HIS heart. 4.5 out of 5 stars rounded up. It's a very character-driven story line which means that there's not that many setting descriptions, which is fine. The story moves along very quickly, which you expect because it’s just a novella and a short one at that. We get to learn a little more about Rhett and Abbie in this story and see the beginnings of their courtship/relationship. It was great to read"the rest of the story", as Paul Harvey always said. It was lovely to read how they first came together, how they handled their fledgling relationship, and knowing how the first half of their courtship/relationship ended. It answers some questions that are answered in those first few Dare Valley books. The novella is so short, there's not much I can say about it without giving away spoilers! If you've read other books in the Dare Valley series, you'll enjoy this first half of Rhett & Abbie's story. If you haven't read any of the others, I suggest starting at the beginning.

II love this series by Ava Miles! This is the part of the romance between Abbie Maven and Rhett Butler we did not know about. Rhett is telling their baby girl how her mommy and daddy met and felt in love. Rhett and Abbie were from two different worlds. Rhett was a poker player, which dressed outrageously and hangout with two sexy poker babes. Abbie was a sofisticated southern lady. She was private, reserved and dressed conservatively. They were oppositive to each other in every way. How could this attraction survive those odds? How can Abbie trust this man? How can Rhett deserve this lovely lady? I recommed for readers to read this book and then right after to read "The Holiday Serenade". This is the story of what happens next and how they finally get married. I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own. I love how this prequel of sorts is Rhett telling his baby girl the story of her momma and daddy. We have known Abbie and Rhett for awhile now, but to get the story from his own mouth was a treat lol. I loved reading how he got her to slowly open up and let him in. I love how when they were together it was like a fire blazing! A great way to return to Dare Valley. I look forward to more soon.

Moonlight Serenade stands on it's own, but is even better if you have already met Rhett and Abbie. This back story of how they met and fell in love is so heartwarming and will have you laughing and crying with the depth of the feelings that come through this author's words. As with all of Ms Miles' books, I enjoyed reading The Moonlight Serenade. It is written differently from other books as The Moonlight Serenade is about Rhett and Abbie's story, told from Rhett's perspective. I liked the way it was done, telling his daughter their story as he would tell a bedtime story. However, I thought that it would be better if the reader has already read The Holiday Serenade. I read The Holiday Serenade some time back and I had forgotten parts of the story. I felt that I would have connected better with the story if I had read it just after reading The Holiday Serenade. Nevertheless, I think it is a great idea, writing from Rhett's perspective and I really did enjoy reminiscing together with Rhett their love story. * I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I love this series by Ava Miles! The Moonlight Serenade is about Abbie Maven and Rhett Butler Blaylock and how they met and fell in love. Rhett was everything Abbie wasn't. He lived a life playing poker for a living while wearing the most outlandish clothes with two poker babes on his arms. His life was loud, busy and always in the spotlight. Having someone like Abbie in his life was a special gift and he hoped he could prove to her that they were worth it. Abbie was quiet and reserved. Rhett always called her a lady. She was extremely private, dressed conservatively and didn't want to do or say anything that would draw attention to herself. Falling for Rhett was against everything she thought she wanted, but after getting to know him she realized that there was so much more to him than what he allowed people to see. I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

I love everything Ava Miles writes! This backstory of Rhett and Abbie was sweet. It is a short story of Rheet and Abbie who fall in love in Holiday Serenade. I love that Rhett has this bigger than life persona who wants what we all want - someone to love and call our own. A great short read! The Moonlight Serenade by Ava Miles I just love reading about Rhett Butler Blaylock and Abbie Maven. The gambler and the lady as I like to think of them. What an unlikely pair, but they sure made it work. Now they have a little baby girl named Clara to go along with her son Dustin which Rhett adopted as his own son. They sure make a great family. I enjoyed hearing all the things Rhett was telling Clara about how him and her mom met. About the ups and downs they went through before they finally knew that they were in love and wanted to get married. This book was so good I finished it in one day. Thank you Ava for a wonderful book. I'm looking forward to your next one. I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. Rhett is still turning phrases just how we like it. Rhett recounts how he and Abbie got together in this wonderful tale. Typical of the Southern gentleman daddy he is, Rhett tells their baby daughter Clara how much she's her own person, much like her mama Abbie, who's the love of his life. Sometimes it seems as if folks are such opposites, there's no point in figuring out their common ground, and at first, Rhett and Abbie are just like that. However, thanks to Rhett's persistence, and knowing when to call and when to fold, Abbie finally came to the realization that they were at their best when they are together. Baby Clara represents that best, and that's partly why Rhett shares both sides of their love story in terms of what Abbie told him and what he was thinking the whole way through. This novella is more than a short story to give a fan base some background insight. It can stand alone, read in such a way as to highlight there are always two sides to every story, including how couples joined together. I could almost hear Rhett's intonations as I read, and I could feel just what Abbie was as she mulled over the extremely difficult choice in opening her heart to love again. If I was going to recommend the order in which folks read The Holiday Serenade (the 1st book about Rhett and Abbie) and The Moonlight Serenade, I'd definitely say read in the order in which they were published. It isn't that they can't be read in any particular order, because they could; it's just that recounting the "how" folks get together is often sweeter and it attests to the many ways in which love can indeed grow deeper over time. I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review; all conclusions are my own.

Loved the story and how it all began. But really $3.99 for 76 pages and not all of them were part of the story. That was my only complaint, the price!

The back story of Abbie and Rhett’s romance is a great view into how their story began. Knowing the both Abbie and Rhett care for each other more than either wants to admit make you sad, but you know things work out of them in the future. Abbie Mavven was Mac's sister. Rhett Butler Blaylock could not even think that Abbie was the one for him. She was a lady and Rhett was a flashy professional poker player. Abbie did not think Rhett was the one for her either. They both would be surprised! Ava Miles has once again got a hit! I love the Dare Valley books. They have a continuity and a familiarity. Each book is about someone different but you constantly see people that you have grown to love appearing in the books. Rhett and Abbie's story is a true case of opposites attracting but they have more in common than either could ever predict. I have loved Rhett since I first encountered him in a Dare Valley book. Abbie is someone to cheer for to have all the good things and happiness that she deserves. I think you will love this book as much as I did!

I really enjoyed this book looking how Abbie and Rhett started their journey. I loved how Ava Miles went about telling this story through Rhett. It gives you the true essence of Rhett and how swoon worthy he can be. It also gives you a glimpse of the inner turmoil Abbie struggled with when it came to men. It's a nice quick read that will grab you. It has a mix of heart, humor, and heat. I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. Was great to see Rhett and Abbie again. And seeing how he was with their baby girl made him that much more endearing. And hearing about their passionate beginning and how she came to trust and ultimately grow to love Rhett was beautiful. This was a wonderful beginning to their story and a beautiful addition to the Dare Valley series.

I can still see Rhett Butler Blalock, the big ole teddy bear, rocking and cuddling his baby girl, Clara, trying to decide how to occupy her until her mother, Abbie, gets home. And what better story to tell than how he met and won her mother's love. Rhett cultivated the reputation of a wild man, a player, which suited him in poker tournaments, but was the last type in which Abbie Maven would be interested. This book explores their tangled relationship as Abbie seeks to protect her heart, and that of her son, while opening herself to the possibility of more to her life. If anyone can give her more, it's Rhett! And he deserves more, too, after being abandoned by his father as a child. This is a sweet story of two people who have pushed through their earlier lives and are now ready to claim their rewards. I was quickly drawn into the past and reminisced along with Rhett, teared up when they parted, and cheered at the conclusion. This is a pleasant afternoon/evening read that I am sure I'll revisit. Now I want to reread "The Holiday Serenade"! I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.

This book is like a catch up on Rhett and Abbie story as Rhett tells their daughter the story of how he won Abbie over. Abbie was carrying a terrible secret which had made her cautious of any relationship as she had to protect her son, but when she meets Rhett he starts to bring her out of her shell and shows her that she can have what she wants. And in the process Rhett realizes that he's not happy with the false life he leads and that he wants the family he never thought he could have Well done Ava "I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review.
