About the Author
Tom Baker is a US Army combat veteran from the Vietnam War. He was a grunt with the 101st in Nam and a parachute rigger, and he spent most of 1968 as a door gunner with the 1/9 1st Cavalry. An Army brat, he was raised by an old brown-boot sergeant major from one of General Patton’s units in the 8th Armored Division. He lives in Sylva, North Carolina, with his wife, a retired rhetoric and writing professor, whom he refers to as his chief editor and whose Air Force father flew C-130 gunships in Nam. Tom has been a forester and logger in Western North Carolina for over forty years.
