Overview

From acclaimed author Dr. Jason Fung, a revolutionary guide to reversing diabetes.

Dr. Jason Fung forever changed the way we think about obesity with his best-selling book, The Obesity Code. Now he has set out to do the same for type 2 diabetes.

Today, most doctors, dietitians, and even diabetes specialists consider type 2 diabetes to be a chronic and progressive disease—a life sentence with no possibility of parole. But the truth, as Dr. Fung reveals in this paradigm-shifting book, is that type 2 diabetes is reversible. Writing with clear, persuasive language, he explains why conventional treatments that rely on insulin or other blood-glucose-lowering drugs can actually exacerbate the problem, leading to significant weight gain and even heart disease. The only way to treat type 2 diabetes effectively, he argues, is proper dieting and intermittent fasting—not medication.

In Minneapolis, the city where General Mills is headquartered, the annual diabetes walk is held...guess who sponsors it? General Mills. At their headquarters. And guess who gives the diabetes educators, the people patients are paired with at a doctor's office, grants? General Mills. Seen the typical diabetes magazine? The covers frequently feature panckes, cakes and bread. My diabetes educator repeatedly tells me that my diabetes will only get worse. We never discuss what I eat. I do better avoiding him. I am buying this book. Finally a doctor who agrees with my observation that carbs are bad.

Rating is Five Star. Problem with Website Dr Fung provides a new way to treat Type 2 Diabetes. Insulin or medications is not the answer because in Type 2 Diabetes the problem is excessive insulin, not a lack of it. He is a neprologist who seen too many people with diabetes have renal failure and wanted to change the treatment program because he says Type 2 Diabetes is a reversible disease, not a chronic one. Also says low HDL is more a cardiovascular risk than high LDL. If you hae elevated triglyceride levels > 150 then your diet is overloaded with too many carbohydrates, sugar, and fructose. Drinking soft-drinks containing fructose is setting you up to acquire Type 2 Diabetes as the cells of the body do not use this sugar for energy. It simply loads the liver with fat, and high triglycerides are the first sign of your liver health.
