Edmond Dantes, a young sailor, is imprisoned on his wedding day for a crime he has not committed. He decides to end his life but a scratching on his cell wall prevents him from doing so. He begins digging towards the source of the sound, meets a fellow prisoner and learns about a treasure trove hidden on an island.
