Charlie always gets the murderer. All the time you think it is someone else and then pow the real murderer comes on the scene. Love it.

The Charlie Chan character captured the American imagination with this series of six novels before the advent of talkies and his migration to the world of early film. I loved revisiting the early 20th century of American life and letters and then went on to watch many if the movies that grew from this source during the thirties and forties. One does not expect great literature or great acting, and the whole CC phenomenon is very much of its period, but to a willing reader and audience this bit of Americana can be a merry romp.

Time travel to the "lazy latitudes" of Charlie Chan's late '20s/early '30s Honolulu and California. Enjoy a thoughtful, graceful writing style with carefully-chosen words from a broad vocabulary, and thought-provoking observations that still seem relevant. Meet his well drawn, interesting characters who are redefining themselves and society after The Great War. A great and refreshing read. The best $2.99 you'll ever spend.

Suggest reading in small doses or can become tedious and drawn out.

Suggest different collection but try samlpe first in case it is like this one could it have been in big print? Has happened before on 2.98 collections.
