My daughter and I both love these stories. I just finished the complete set and she is already reading them for a second time. They are a great look back at life around the turn of the century.

Before Harry Potter and Twilight, we had Anne Shirley, the spunky redhead who charmed the sibling Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert into taking her in even though she was not a boy.I loved this series growing up and I would recommend it to any young woman who loves to read!

These book expands her life from her rocky start to a full grown women.I laughed, cried, lived and died right along with all of the characters in these books from beginning to end. It is well worth the read I have even got my daughter to read them it is a timeless classic that will continue to delight people for many generations.

These books are great for Young Adults, an orphaned day-dreaming Anne trying to find her place in a new society set in one of the most beautiful settings of farmlands. This story is very heart warming and funny. Anne is every young girls best friend and bosom buddy.

Once upon a time I owned the complete set of Anne. I read them over and again all through my childhood and teenagerdom. Re-reading Anne in my 30's reminded me of the joy of Anne, her adventures and how I felt she was me, an outsider with a wild imagination. I hope I will read these books again and again.

I still think the first book in the series surpasses the others thus far, but I do enjoy reading the remaining books despite some Edwardian prose. The letters in Anne of Windy Poplars were occasionally hard to get through, but Montgomery characterizes Anne, Marilla, Rachel, and a diverse cast of minor characters so well that reading these books feels like visiting with old friends. I'm only on Anne's House Of Dreams now and was surprised how short a chapter was devoted to the wedding, but I still love the work all the way.

These books are truly beautiful and a joy to read. Anne becomes part of your soul, and I swear that I am a better person after I read even one of them. You will end up finding "kindred spirits" everywhere!

These books are wonderful!!! I have to read these at least once a year to get a good Anne-dose into my blood. L.M. Montgomery's splendid writing and vivid characters lead your imagination through spectacular adventures. All should read and benefit from these books.

Anne (with an e) is such an indomitable heroine. I enjoyed all the books. When I was 13, we visited the Anne of Green Gables house on Prince Edward Island.

Avonlea has always contained a subtle charm for me; perhaps it is the people and their rugged simplicity and honesty, or maybe the "delicious" landscape is what so endears this place to me. Regardless, these stories are so much more than that: they are a gateway to a place so real, so warm, so loving, you wish you could stay there forever...and are sorry when he book is done. To put it simply, these books have been FRIENDS to me through my childhood, and remain so as l embark upon a new chapter in my life. "Anne of The Island" will come with me to college, and the other books grace my bookshelves and my heart forever. Do yourself a favor, and pick one will be surprised. -Estelle

These book were devoured by me as a young girl, reread countless times. I wished the later books kept  the core characters together from the first books, but as in real life, people grow up, move on and pass away. So we  cannot keep Matthew and Marilla around for the whole series. I've even reread these books in adulthood and  watched the marvelous PBS movie version. Can't recommend any higher!

Anne is the little girl we all once were, or wanted to be, an ugly orphan so lovable she won the heart of... pretty much everybody. In spite of (of because of) accidentally dying her hair green, her nose red, and other misadventures. I love the whole series down to Rilla of Ingleside. Looked at through older eyes, Montgomery does an amazing job creating characters and giving flavor to the interpersonal relationships - people are still the same, their wants, needs, and schemes don't change, regardless of era or setting.
