About the Author

Victoria Kikis was born in New York City's Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Her family lived in the Fordham section of The Bronx until moving to the waterfront community of Throgg's Neck when she was just four years old. An ideal place for childhood in the 1950's, where families thrived. Neighborhood storekeepers knew everyone, parents and their children, alike. Victoria attended the New York City public schools and studied fashion design at The Hight School of Fashion Industries in Manhattan.

Moving in a completely different direction, she also earned a degree in computer programing from NYU's School of Continuing Education. The tech world of the 1980's proved to be too fast for her taste. She moved on to a career in the professional golf management sector with a corporation which managed 8 of New York City's public golf facilities. It was during this time that she was given a motivational assignment involving goal setting, and questions like, "If you could do anything else in your life, what would that be? Her answer to that then was, "To write a cookbook." Happily, many years later, that goal has been achieved.

While Victoria has had no formal culinary training, she has joyfully cooked for family and friends her whole life. Cooking and family dining played an integral part in making her the person she is today. Cooking is a natural means of expression for her.

Happily enjoying a very active retirement life with her husband, Louis, in Palm Harbor, Florida, Victoria spends her days working out at the gym; enjoying water sports like paddle boarding, and competing in Hawaiian Outrigger canoe races with her paddling club. At the end of the day, her joyous times always come back to hearth and home, hosting family holiday dinners and lots and lots of parties.
