Loved Michael York reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, but the volume was a little uneven. Very quiet during narration, loud when characters were speaking. Lynn Redgrave read Prince Caspian, she did a fine job, although I was not fond of her "Aslan" voice. The volume was much more even for this book. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is read by Derek Jacobi, one of my favorite actors. I love his reading, all except the voice of Lucy. Still, his characterization of them all is very well done.Jeremy Northam read The Silver Chair. He is my favorite reader so far. He gets Puddleglum just right, as well as the mood and tone of the other characters. Sound quality was very even as well.Alex Jennings read The Horse and His Boy. I love the story of Shasta, probably my favorite boy in the Narnia series. Jennings did a fine job of reading, but his whispery voice for Shasta and Aravis were a bit annoying. The Last Battle is read by Patrick Stewart. This is my least favorite of the Narnia stories, it is so painful. However, hearing Patrick Stewart read it made it bearable. He is an excellent reader. So good in fact that I was not aware of "him" so much as simply caught up in the hearing of the tale.I am so glad this set was produced. I consider it to be one of my cherished treasures now.
