I almost didn't buy The Blue Fairy Book because of the reviews that stated there aren't any pictures in it.  There are pictures in the copy I received.  It's the Leatherbound edition.

I love this book :) I really hope they plan on coming out with the red fairy book soon! I want the whole collection!

Printing on the spine is off center and embarrassing. After discovering a bad misprint in "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" in this collection, I'm starting to be wary.

I bought this book as part of my son's curriculum and was worried that I might not have all the stories as I realized it was just a section from Blue Fairy, but I'm SO glad I bought it. Its perfect and so beautifully done. I only wish it was the whole book!

As with many classics, this book is unacceptably and blatantly racist. The first story contains references to "Hideous Negroes" and "Evil Jews." It is violent - with a character being boiled alive, and the aforementioned Jew being lynched by dragging. While the average Eurocentric reader won't discern it, I'd recommend that the mindful reader peruse it in the public domain via Google Books for free and mediate the message with the appropriate context.

Warning! While this book is gorgeous on the outside, it is missing 8 stories: Little Red Riding Hood Sleeping Beauty Rumpelstiltskin The Goose Girl The Brave Little Tailor A Voyage to Lilliput Trusty John Little Thumb This was unacceptable to me since there are other versions that include them all. I purchased mine on Amazon and not suspecting Barnes and Noble would have released such a book, opened it to find out too late the stories were missing.
