Cast into the spotlight by the post-9/11 ubiquity of the touching and timely "Superman," Five for Fighting -- essentially a nom de disque for singer/songwriter John Ondrasik -- became torchbearers of sorts for quietly spiritual balladry, a path that's furthered on this follow-up. Ondrasik often wears his heart on his sleeve, and here, he opens up to muse about the world that surrounds him (on the dreamy "NYC Weather Report") and the feelings that well up within him (on the love paean "Nobody"). The leader's intricate, Elton-esque piano work is the primary pitch over which The Battle for Everything is fought, and here, that terrain is significantly more rocky -- which ups the energy level significantly on the surprisingly sensual "The Taste." Ondrasik even relaxes enough to allow his goofy side to slip through the cracks on "Disneyland," a lilting ditty (about a wayward crocodile) that Randy Newman might have written in one of his more frivolous moods. Acting on the adage that the pen is mightier than the sword -- and an acoustic piano potentially more powerful than an overloaded Marshall amp -- Ondrasik fights his battles quietly, but with consistent success.

This is the best CD I've bought in a very long time. I just love this group. This CD has a great song on every single track. It is very rare to find a CD where I dont have to skip a few tracks. This entire cd is just GREAT!!

John "Five For Fighting" Ondrosik Scores a Hat Trick with "The Battle for Everthing". It is a great album and 100 Years is an awesome life ballad. It picks up where Superman left off. Thanks again john

Five for Fighting has gotten better with each album! This album is a great mix of different sounds. It shows that John isn't just putting out the same music with the same sound each time. I still have America Town in my truck and listen to it constantly. The Battle for Everything has joined it and will stay there for a long time too! You will not be disappointed with this album.

You rarely find an album in which every song on it is something you like. This is one of those albums. I highly recommend it. John's style is great. His other albums are good as well. He's definately an artist worth listening to. Can't wait till he starts touring.

When I heard the song "100 Years" was when I actually got into Five for Fighting...yeah I've heard "Superman" but "100 Years" was the one that really got my attention. I bought the CD because of that song mainly and after listening to the other songs on FFF's website. John's a great piano player and makes beautiful music. 5 stars!

Having loved "Superman", I bought The Battle for Everything after hearing "100 Years". I realized it was no fluke - I really enjoyed the sound of Five for Fighting. John Ondrasik's voice is so unique and pleasing that it sets him above other singer/songwriters. With "100 Years", poetically documenting the memorable stages of our lives, he has once again hit a common chord among us all. My initial favorites on the CD were "100 Years", "Dying" and "Angels & Girlfriends". "Dying" is a serious love song, while "Angels & Girlfriends" is light and whimsical. There's something in the CD for everyone. I've moved on to listening to "One More For Love", "Nobody" and "Maybe I". My favorites now are "100 Years" and "Maybe I". The Battle for Everything is a true gem.

Almost everyone has heard the 9/11 anthem "Superman", but that song, as gorgeous as it is, just barely tips the iceberg of greatness that is Five for Fighting. John Ondrasik, the crux of Five for Fighting, not only displays a tremendous voice, but he is a lyrical genius as well. On Five for Fighting's newest album, "The Battle for Everything," Ondrasik's lyrics and vocals are a highlight of the experience. Having the opportunity to see John in concert last month, I got to see firsthand the passion that he puts into each of his songs. That intense passion also flows through their latest CD. "The Battle for Everything" is one of the few albums that is appealing to people of all ages and musical tastes. The songs on "The Battle for Everything" range from touching ballads like the (already!) hit single "100 Years" to rock songs like "Infidel." The romantics won't want to miss "One More for Love" and "If God Made You," while the cynics will love "Angels and Girlfriends" and "Disneyland." John never fails to touch, enlighten, and humor with his impeccable albums. No need to argue, "The Battle for Everything" is everything a wonderful album can be.

Five for Fighting does it again in this brilliant album! John Ondrasnik's soothing voice and beautiful, uplifting lyrics will make you feel good inside! He takes the stress away and detoxes your mind with the lyrics of NYC Weather Report. He takes you back to your past with 100 Years. And, he makes you fall in love again with If God Made You. This is a MUST BUY CD!

Heard the song 100 Years for the first time on the radio while driving in my car and within 10 minutes I'd bought the CD. One of the few CD's I own where I can honestly say I love every track.

I find this album to be both creative and tasteful. The sincerity in John's vocals and music is a breath of fresh air. A few of my favorite songs on this album are: "100 years", "Dying", Maybe I","One more for love" and "Nobody". The vocals and music in these songs are both amazing and inspiring. I have litened to this album 3 times in a row, its so wonderful! Enjoy!

John has another hit here. John has grown as an artist... from Superman to 100 years his compassion of humanity shows. His lyrical voice range is so inspiring and the whole CD has a wide range of songs for him to express his emotions!!! A must have!!

"The Battle For Everything" is a tribute to singer/songwriter John Ondrasik's skill and talent. It is not like other CDs out there. The issues these songs deal with are not just love and losing/finding a girlfriend but real issues that the average person has to deal with everyday. The songs have heartening messages to them and are far from hard to listen to. And the music does not stay in one set mode but ranges from rock to country and nearly everywhere inbetween. No matter what mood you're in, there's a good song on that CD for you. If you've heard "100 Years" on the radio, you'll know that it is one of the most beautiful, meaningful songs ever written. The rest of the CD does not disappoint.

This CD has the most beautiful music accompanied by words that evoke feelings of joy, pain, beauty, and love. Listening to this CD from FFF is a trip inside your own head. The song A Hundred Years is my favorite. You really do have only so much time on this earth, what are you going to do with it? This CD is filled with lyrics that memic life. The piano playing is as fine as it gets, throw in some harmonica, guitar and a drum mix in beautiful have a masterpiece, you have One Hundred Years....You have this CD. Dont let this one get away.

When I heard the third FFF CD was finally being released, I quickly pre-ordered and counted down the days. I was not disapponted. In fact, I was blown away. John Ondrasik has found a groove he fits in very well, and each song is flawless. Of course the single "100 Years" is beautiful, as is the video ( p;am p;mid=1153) "Dying" fits his voice perfectly. The whole CD is just wonderful.

I think this CD is one of the best CD's out there. I have known about and been listening to FFF for about 2 years, and I freaked when the CD came out. John Ondrosik has such a unique sound, and each one of the songs on The Battle for Everything is different, so you never get tired of listening to the cd. My personal favorite is Dying, it's just such a sad, mournful song, and the words are so powerful.

This might be the best CD I own. I absolutely love listening to it no matter what mood I'm in because there's a track for everything. I highly suggest that everyone has their own copy of this CD.

The first time I played The Battle for Everything I wasn't sure if I would like it. Because of the first CD and also due to the fact I have seen FFF in concert several times around town over the past couple years I gave it a chance. To get used to it, I played it non stop to and from work and never took it out of my cd player. Now I play it non stop and never take it out of my cd player because I LOVE IT. I'm hooked. Everything about the music is beautiful.

I had high hopes for this CD, after purchasing and enjoying most of "America Town" but this CD, sadly, has only 2 songs worth listening to. I gave it away.
