Overview

I'm the bastard child, son to the mistress, my father's backup heir to the Kingston empire. He sent me to Harvard. I left and became a Navy SEAL, but I'm back now, and I finished school on my own dime. I'm now the right hand man to Grayson  Bennett, the billionaire who runs the Bennett Empire. I'm now a few months from being a billionaire myself. I don't need my father's company or his love. My "brother" can have it. I will never go back there. I will never be the mistake my father made, the way he was the mistake my mother made.

And then she walks in the door, the princess I'd once wanted more than I'd wanted my father's love. She wants me to come back. She says my father needs to be saved. I don't want to save my father but I do want her. Deeply. Passionately. More than I want anything else.

But she's The Princess and I'm The Bastard. We don't fit. We don't belong together and yet she says he needs me, that she needs me. We're like sugar and spice, we don't mix, but I really crave a taste. Just one. What harm can just one taste do?

This was a surprise for me. I really wasn't expecting to love Eric's story so much. We got a few scenes with him in previous Dirty Rich series but he didn't stand out to me at that time. However, I was completely enthralled. Eric is done with his father's family but it only took Harper to pull him back in. He has never stopped thinking about their time together 6 years ago. Even though he fears she is just like the rest of his family, he wants her. If Harper is in trouble, he will protect her but he fears she is lying to him. There was so much to uncover in this book. The family is full of secrets and lies and I enjoyed following along as Eric and Harper dug in to find the truth all the while Eric is trying to learn to trust Harper. Their attraction is explosive and I love them together. I got to the last page in the book and couldn't believe it was going to end there. I literally screamed no! I'm going to need that second book ASAP. Just as Harper and Eric start to solidify their relationship a bomb was dropped and then something else happened that I won't give away in my review but I need to know what happens next!!!

First of all, I want to say my main reason for getting this book was because Jason Clarke was narrating the audiobook with Erin Mallon. With that said, this turned out to be a great story, and I've already downloaded the next audiobook (The Princess) in this series. Eric comes off as this brash, genius IQ, brooding ass. As the story flows, you slowly see all the many layers of Eric, and I'm guessing they didn't end with this book. He and his step-sister, Harper, have a complicated relationship. Add in the background their families, and you have one heck of a roller coaster ride. I enjoyed the in depth storyline, the secondary characters, and I've even got a few surprise favorites I'd love to get to know better (Blake, Adam). This book holds your attention, and if I weren't working on a big project at work, I would have finished sooner, but my commute to/from work was pretty much the only time I could listen without interruption. Off to go listen to The Princess!

This is book one in the Filthy trilogy and it features Eric and Harper. CLIFFHANGER! OMG! I am so invested in this amazing story. The forbidden love, the action, the mystery and more is outstanding. The anticipation build up is out of this world! Who’s good and who’s bad has you questioning your own judgment. Eric and Harper are explosive together! As soon as I read the last word, I purchased book two! So exciting!

Suspenseful and full of twists and turns, this emotional read is full on and exciting. Eric is a character who is flawed by his background and his intelligence, he is one you fall in love with because despite his looks he isn't perfect, the person to be his soul mate needs to understand his triggers and how to help calm him. For Harper she has suffered a loss of one person who completely understood and supported her, to be thrust into a family of anger, greed and hatred. In so many ways these two need each other. The twists and turns this story takes and the undercurrents are at times hard to keep up with but worth the little bit of concentration to follow, it kept me completely focussed and reading through the pages. Well written with a complex plot that keeps giving without let up, it has you needing to follow on with the next book as well as the climax is also the start of the next part. I love getting caught up in a gritty story that has a whole mix of characters and emotions, good and bad, ugly and beautiful and this one has the full range.

The Princess is book 2 in the Filthy Trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones. This book picks right up where The Bastard, book one ended. I have been so excited for this book to see where Lisa takes us with Eric and Harper. This book takes you on a wild roller coaster ride that has you hanging on with both hands. There is so much action and suspense and the chemistry and love between this two is just off the charts. I cannot wait for the next book!!! I highly recommend this series. You won’t be disappointed.

If I could give this book more stars I would. This story is so intense. We learn so much more about Eric. The complexities to this man can’t be summoned up easily. Mia is such a strong character. This book is bleeding emotion. I just devoured this book. It ends leaving my emotions in turmoil and my mind with lots of questions. The writing is just phenomenal

My friends this is a straight up soap opera. So we meet Eric who grew up with a single mom and he did not know that his father was alive and rich and knew nothing of him, When Eric meets him and his family they show him they don't care about him but he can be of some use for them. Eric doesn't stick around and makes it rich himself, years later he meets his stepsister and they have a scorching night together, years later again she goes to him because she needs his help, he will but with no lies and secrets and she does have them..You will have to read what happens but be warned it does end in a cliffy.. Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) Voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.

This is the two-part love story of Eric and Harper. Eric is the illegitimate son of Jeff Kingston and though he moved into the rich life of the wealthy always was an outsider. He is a number-savant, ex-SEAL and self-made billionaire who made the decision to leave the family business before being offered a position within it. Six years later he is asked by Harper, a one night stand and the daughter of his father’s new wife, to return to “fix” what is wrong with Kingston Motors. This book reads like a New Adult romance with steamy passages and intrigue and not much honest communication by any of the characters in the book. I had trouble seeing what the attraction, beyond the physical, there was between Eric and Harper and had difficulty finding anything to like about either one of them. There is a great deal of tension and a mystery left unsolved just after the “twist” at the end of book one and...it ended with a cliffhanger. I don’t enjoy cliffhangers and would prefer a longer book that tells the entire story because I find it a bit manipulative pushing the reader to have to buy book two to find out the rest of the story. Did I enjoy the book? At some times more than others Did I find it believable? Hmm… Do I want to find out what happens in book two, THE PRINCESS? Yes Thank you to NetGalley and … for the ARC – This is my honest review. 3 Stars

Let me say I love the title, and well it describes Eric perfectly. He and Harper had history, a long history, too much lies but their connection is strong, will they survive to uncover their mysteries, or will they be doomed? This book had me on edge and so much more. I need the next!

I hope the second book will reveal a little more back story on Eric 's life with the Kingston's and answer some questions I have. I hope the person in the factory is one of Blake's men sent to save Harper. I was somewhat confused by the numbers in Eric ' s head but I researched savant to understand what was going on.

As usual, this author does not disappoint with her likeable, relatable characters and a plot that leaves you wanting to turn the page and find out what will happen next. I wouldn't have minded the characters being fleshed out a bit more, making the book a little deeper and longer, but all in all a captivating read.

Stunned into silence. Sometimes, there just aren't enough words to explain how a story makes you feel. Amazed, achy, frustrated, swoony, tense, enthralled. god, I could go on and on about Eric and Harper. These two met six years ago and had an instant rapport that ended with them in bed. But, Eric left, and neither spoke to the other again. Not until, Harper needs Eric's help. Even though they haven't seen each other in all that time, the attraction hasn't waned. If anything it's gotten stronger and neither can fight it. But, there's things that Harper isn't telling Eric, and he's keeping tight-lipped about something too. Then, there's Isaac, and Eric's father. Both men distrust Eric and will do anything to make him go away. Lies and secrets abound. Mysteries are placed in their way. A distraction or the truth hidden in numbers only Eric can decipher. They're getting close, in more ways than one when Isaac drops a bomb. Will Eric stick around or will he really leave Harper to face the wolves alone? Yes, this ended in a cliffhanger, and it was one heck of a fall. I'm still screaming!!!!

Addicting, Consuming, Palpable Allure! This embodies everything that makes Lisa Renee Jones the phenomenal writer, of romance, of which I just can’t get enough. So consumed, I could not put this down and read this in one sitting. Edgy, intense, provocative, passionate and full of intrigue, danger, secrets and deception. These characters are well developed and their sizzling attraction jumps off the page. Their push and pull of lust and need is constantly consuming the characters as well as the reader, taking us along for the ride, leaving you breathless and affected. You don’t want to miss this book! Anxiously awaiting what happens next! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This story is relentless and addictive. It captured and held my attention right from the beginning. Eric is the "bastard" son to the Kingston Motors empire. Something that his brother Isaac takes great delight in reminding him. As much as he wanted to be a part of this family, this time has passed. He now considers those who run Bennett Enterprises to be his family. He is a genius and self made millionaire. Harper is the step daughter of Eric's father. She sticks by Kingston Motors to honour her father's legacy, but she is not held in high regards! When Eric sets eyes on Harper at one of his father's party, there is an instant attraction from both parties. They have a brief encounter, but Eric doesn't want to have anything to do with the "enemy" and makes a sharp exit. Six years later, Harper goes to him for help. There is something fishy going on in Kingston Motors, but she isn't getting any answers from anyone. The sparks between them is ignited once again, and against his better judgement, Eric goes to investigate. With the help of the Walker brothers, he realises that there is more going on than meets the eyes! As he gets closer to Harper, he becomes more inclined to get to the bottom of the truth. He doesn't trust anyone else, but can he trust her? Eric is fair and honest to those he loves and trusts even though, his earlier days were riddled with pain, rejection and disrespect. Harper is too trusting and even when she knows that something is drastically wrong, she stays to protect her mother. This story has love, passion, endless twists, mysteries and secrets. It had me on tenterhooks on more than one occasion. When things appear to be falling into place, something else goes wrong and raises more questions. The worse one being at the end, when Harper's secret is let out of the bag. Oh! No, it doesn't stop there, there is another agonising twist of event. This cliffhanger only brings more questions. There is no indication as to the "who" or the "why", and the wait is on for the answers to these questions and so many more! It's a well constructed and complex story which sucked me in and has left me wanting for more. Nailbiting! I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Absolutely loved this story. You could feel Eric and Harper’s connection from the very beginning and all the way through. The storyline pulls you in from the very start and keeps you on the edge of your seat til the end. The twists and secrets between not only Eric and Harper but also with the Kingston family are so well written. The two want to trust one another but there are things that have happened to each of them that cause them to question if the secrets they have will tear them apart. Lies they have been told by family they don’t trust. They both want to find away out and are trying to do it together. The chemistry between Eric and Harper is undeniable. Will the secrets pull them apart? Can they overcome the obstacles they face by the Kingston family? The ones caused by the secrets they keep? Will knowing Harper’s secret cause Eric to run? Will he see the truth in the secret Harper kept? Or will he only see what he wants to see? Can they get past all of it and find the HEA they deserve? Will the people who have caused all the pain to them be held accountable? We’ll find out. This is a captivating story I can not wait to find out what happens next in part two; The Princess. Book two of The Filthy Duet.
