Downton Abbey meets Dynasty in this richly imagined, captivating family saga,” said about The Bourbon Kings. Now the series continues, as the Bradford family’s facade of privilege and prosperity is threatened by secrets and indiscretions. . . .
The Bradford family is the crème de la crème of high society in Charlemont, Kentucky—just like their exclusive brand of bourbon. But no one is above suspicion once the apparent suicide of the family patriarch begins to look like murder—especially the eldest Bradford son, Edward. The bad blood between his father and him is known far and wide. As the investigation intensifies, he keeps himself busy at the bottom of a bottle—and with two women who may or may not have his best interests at heart...
Then, on the very brink of the family’s demise, someone thought lost to them forever returns to the fold. Maxwell Bradford has come home. But is he a savior . . . or the worst of all the sinners?

The book is supposed to be about Edward and Sutton, or at least that is what the description states. Instead it focuses on every othrr character more than them and doesn't even have a conclusion! Basically they are in three scenes together in the whole book and that is all.

Although the story ia told from many of the Bradford family members' lives, this book captivates you with a plot full of shocking twists and turns. And the best part of the journey seems to be just beginning. Cant wait for the next book in this series to learn more about Gin, Maxwell and Sutton. Long live the Bourboun Kings!

JR Ward skillfully maneuvers the intricacies of a crumbling family dynamic while honoring the glue that is holding the family together. Emotional, real, raw. Beautiful!

This review was written by Marie for a guest review post on Ever After Book Reviews blog: 5 Stars Scandal. Family drama. Juicy secrets. Sex (and hot sex at that!). This book has it all! The return to Easterly didn’t disappoint in The Angels’ Share. The return of so many favorite characters, coupled with the “Dallas-esque” setting, makes this series addicting, exciting, and so much fun! As a fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, I can tell you that the familiar writing style of Ms. Ward brings to life a wonderful world of intrigue and class. Her strong, yet flawed, characters add layers of depth to an already complex and beautifully built storyline. And, as always, they bring their perfect comedic timing to the best situations. I have enjoyed getting to know the Bradford family and absolutely cannot wait to find out what addictive drama is in store the next go round! ***I read and reviewed a hardcover copy of the book gifted to the blog, from the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

5 STARS! The Bourbon Kings series will suck you into their world so fast you won’t know what or where the time went. I love this series and this is only the 2nd book! The story continues from book 1, “The Bourbon Kings” which involved the Bradford/Baldwine family and those around them. Lizzie King is a horticulturist for Easterly estate. Home of the original Bradford family and then Baldwine after Lil’ V.E. married William Baldwine. They had 4 children; Edward, Maxwell, Jonathan Tulane “Lane” and Virginia Elizabeth “Gin”. Due to their childhood past, the boys have scattered to stay away from Easterly. Gin is the only child still living at the estate, living a single life while her teenage daughter is away at prep school. This book continues as evidence is found that may change the outcome of someone’s death. And with that more secrets are revealed. With all that is being thrown at Lane, he is determined to keep BBC working and his family from falling more apart than it already has. This story is full of deceit to the highest level. Lies, infidelity, embezzlement, gambling and then death. Lane is determined to keep the Bradford Bourbon Company from drowning in debt and keep the drink flowing.

It's so good with all the different character view points and the 2nd book is even better! This is a must read book and a must read author.

New York Times Bestselling author, J.R. Ward, continues her Bourbon Kings saga in The Angels' Share, where we further embrace the drama, greed and excesses of this fabulously wealthy Kentucky family. I was one of the lucky winners of the Goodreads 'Giveaways' and received a free copy of The Angels' Share through them and Penguin Random House. I LOVE J.R. Ward's writing style and can never get enough of her books. Combine that with my love of bourbon and that I actually live in Kentucky, not far from where much of this plot takes place, and you get a very excited and satisfied fan. Thank you so much for this book. I only wish I was able to read this sooner. I often describe the Bourbon Kings series as (the soap opera) Dallas meets the bourbon gods of Kentucky; the Texas oil empire saga but in Kentucky and over bourbon. J.R. Ward does a wonderful job pulling her readers into her stories. Her alternating points of views is something I have always enjoyed about her, no matter her series. She adds additional layers of enjoyment for her regional readers by including accurate descriptions of bourbon distillation, weather or local sentiments towards things like basketball rivals or the love of our Graeters Ice Cream, for example. This story embodies a great combination of elements that allow for a marvelous plot and I can't recommend it enough. For spoilers or plot review, see complete review here: Edward's story arc is strongly pulling the readers along for this ride. Did he really do it? Why? If not, who is he covering for? Was Max involved? Will his love for Sutton ever become realized? Will he ever be happy? I'm also extremely interested in the story line between Gin and Samuel - they are meant to be and I can't wait to read about it. Will Samuel learn about Amelia? Will Richard get his due? What will happen to the company? To the family and it's estate? Can Lane save it? Will Mrs. Aurora pull out of this coma? Such fun. I give it a five out of five for sure. Drama, murder, wealth, love, bourbon and Kentucky. Perfection.
