Follow the exciting adventures of a homing pigeon who can find his way home over a long distance. His adventure begins with a pigeon race up the Mississippi River from New Orleans to St. Louis, his home.
During the race, he encounters many challenges and overcomes many obstacles, during which he displays outstanding leadership ability. He defeats a thunderstorm and different kinds of predators. He makes an emergency landing at the Natchez Bridge and meets a colony of pigeons living under the bridge, who helps him in his time of need. The reader will admire Cheramie's determination and willingness to sacrifice to help others, at great risk to himself, carrying on the tradition of bravery displayed by his ancestor Cher-Amie.

About the Author

Stanley Guess was an experimental test pilot in the US Air Force. He flew the first C-130 and invented the LAPES (low-altitude parachute extraction system). After retiring from the Air Force, he became an instructor pilot for Saudia Airlines. He flew ammunition and people in and out of the Yemeni war area as well and was selected as the pilot for the king’s highway builder, Ben Laden. After returning to the United States, he formed his own commuter airline, flew seaplanes in the Virgin Islands, and flew corporate aircraft all over the world—Middle East, Southeast Asia, and South America. He still flies his Cessna for sport.
