Love and Betrayal...Regency style

A young woman of noble blood, raised as a peasant girl...

An orphaned stable boy, now grown and the surrogate son of a powerful earl—the same earl who just so happens to be the young woman's father...

Francie Jordan and Alexander Bishop have nothing in common—she runs barefoot and talks to animals. He won't loosen his cravat unless the bedroom door is firmly closed. She believes in love, second chances, and happily ever after. He believes in keeping a safe distance from anything that resembles an emotion. Indeed, they have nothing in common but an undeniable desire for one another they can't ignore, and an ailing "father" who will employ any means to bring them together.

Unfortunately, not everyone wishes to see a union between Francie and Alexander, and they will stop at nothing to keep this couple apart.

About the Author

Mary Campisi writes emotion-packed books about second chances. Whether contemporary romances, women's fiction, or Regency historicals, her books all center on belief in the beauty of that second chance.

Mary should have known she'd become a writer when at age thirteen she began changing the ending to all the books she read. It took several years and a number of jobs, including registered nurse, receptionist in a swanky hair salon, accounts payable clerk, and practice manager in an OB/GYN office, for her to rediscover writing. Enter a mouse-less computer, a floppy disk, and a dream large enough to fill a zip drive. The rest of the story lives on in every book she writes.

When she's not working on her craft or following the lives of five young adult children, Mary's digging in the dirt with her flowers and herbs, cooking, reading, walking her rescue lab mix, Cooper, or, on the perfect day, riding off into the sunset with her very own hero/husband on his Ultra Limited aka Harley.

Mary has published with Kensington, Carina Press, and The Wild Rose Press. She is currently working on A Family Affair: Fall, Book Four in the popular Truth in Lies Series, due out Fall 2014.

Mary Campisi wrote a regency romance that reinforced my disenchantment with Royalty as it was. Francie was desparate for help. The Duke's second son, Jared, was seducing maidens in the vilkage with his charms, lies of marriage, or threats. Already three girls were ruined with unmarried pregnancies, and now he was after her. She was not attracted, but he was threatening her Aunt's lvelihood. Alexander Bishop was a stable boy whose drunken father beat for no other reason than he wanted to. His parents died and he was orphaned when the Earl Phillip took him under his wing, and made him into the man he now was. Ms. Campisi wrote a complete book with details, explicit sex, and mystery. This is not a cliffhanger. I recommend this to mature adults.

Alexander was annoying with his unwillingness to let go of the past, Francie was all light and airy goodness. Jared, the bad guy was truly a woman beating old man shooting willing to rape bad guy and Claire, the evil twin makes Malificent look nice. Thank God I'm done

The story itself was entertaining if you suspend all disbelief. The heroin some how falls in love (very quickly) with the hero who is nothing but rude and mean to her. He looks good, and apparently that’s all you need. They argue a handful of times, and bam, in love. Where is the seduction? He lies and manipulates her into agreeing to marry him in order to keep the estate. Somehow, there is no one next in line to inherit an Earldom, no cousin, no distant relative, and no reverting to the crown. They both have some oddly obsessive, annoying antagonists that prove incredibly dumb in their final act. I mean, really dumb. We get introduced to a random pirate who saves the day in the climax. But he is only referenced, so technically, the servant messenger saves the day by telling the antagonist to run away from the pirate. Really? The hero cannot even save his own lady? The two main characters do not even trust each other, so the story never actually puts them to the test. If you disregard all of that, the story is ok. The heroin is interesting, but I find the hero to be lacking. He had no personality, besides being controlling, rude, lying, and coming clean only when pressured. He wasn’t even seductive...maybe it was the heroin doing all the unintentional seducing after all.

A Taste Of Seduction by Mary Campisi is an awesome historical romance. Ms. Campisi has delivered a well-written book furnished with an outstanding cast of characters. Francie loved her life with her aunt and uncle but when she draws unwanted attention from the earl's second son her aunt and uncle decide it's time to take her to her father. Francie's father took Alexander in as a youngster and raised him as a son. Alexander was suspicious when Francie arrived claiming to be Lord Montrose's daughter. Alexander and Francie's story is loaded with drama, humor, action, spice and suspense. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from Mary Campisi in the future. A Taste Of Seduction is book 1 of the An Unlikely Husband Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I loved the book! I accidentally read book 2 first. Francine and Alexander’s story was breathtaking. Loved the story line, her being raise by her aunt and uncle to finding out her father is not only alive but a Marquess. He knew nothing about her and apparently it was for her safety. A heart warming story with of course 2 villains bent on destroying she and Alexander.

A dynamic story of love and redemption. Well developed characters, interesting plot twists and highly engaging. The hero and heroine are locked in a love-hate relationship, attracted to each other but deny it and refuse to acknowledge them. It takes a desperate act of two connivers to attempt to thwart Miss Linton and Mr. Weston but also open their eyes.
