Overview
Johnny's Greatest Hits remains the definitive Johnny Mathis album, but it has to be said that Columbia's budget-line collection Super Hits does an excellent job of capturing highlights from his career. Most of his biggest hits are here, including "Chances Are," "Wonderful! Wonderful," "The Twelfth of Never," "A Certain Smile" and "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late." Since it runs from his first number one hit in 1957 to his last in 1978, it isn't nearly as coherent as Greatest Hits, which contained the cream of his late-'50s and early-'60s recordings, but it's nevertheless a fun listen that may be worthwhile for budget-minded casual fans.
