Even before surviving the Scorpius bacterium, Greyson Storm was a lone wolf navigating minefields. As a kid, he learned to take a hit and find safety. As an adult, he joined the military and quickly learned how to protect and defend. When the world ended, he created a mercenary camp with military precision, no entanglements, and a promise to avenge a fallen friend. As part of that vow, he kidnapped Maureen Shadow, but now that he has let her go, her blue eyes and intriguing mind keep haunting him…

As possibly the only Biotechnology Engineer still living, Maureen Shadow might be humanity’s one hope to survive the aftermath of Scorpius, making her frighteningly valuable to both allies and enemies. Even after sexual tension explodes between her and Greyson, she’s not sure which camp he belongs to—friend or foe? Worse yet, survival may mean thwarting his prime mission, putting her in even more peril. When danger and seduction collide, there is no safety in this new world.

The series keeps getting better and better. Who knew Grayson was such a sweetheart. The only complaint I had was the notes at the beginning of each chapter. You could hardly decipher them because of the Vanguard logo.

This series is awesome! I can't wait for the next book to come out!

Great series

Every chapter started with a Vanguard symbol over the first several sentences. Very annoying. Even changing the layout to landscape didn’t help much.

4.5stars Storm gathering is another great story in the Scorpius Syndrom series. I was hoping for the great story and it was. In these book happens a lot and is constantly happening. It is also great that the story is not predictable at all. Both Gray and Maureen are great characters, easy to like. Gray although toward the others is for me not so cold ruthless, like the previous Heros, from the start we see that Maureen is his weak spot, that this girl will change his life. He is a great leader, the great friend, and partner. Maureen that girl is soo funny I laugh so many times. She is strong, determined and I really liked that she stood up for her men even when everything shows that he did something against them. Their chemistry is hot, their dialogues great. The story that keeps you on the edge until the end. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

Grayson and Maureen were just perfect. This book was so exciting while the gangs worked their way towards the results that they want. Loved this book.

OMG, I love Maureen Shadow--it's like we're sisters from another mister. Proof positive: The only way civilization will survive is if the women just take over. Duh. You go, girl! And then At this point, she never wanted to leave the Bunker. Forget Vanuard and Merc territory. There was hot water and mealoaf here. Spoiler alert: there's Twinkies too. That Superbowl commercial was totally right! (I knew it!) But seriously, I really am enjoying the world that Ms. Zanetti has created here. Though perhaps enjoying isn't exactly the right word--overall, it's pretty darn terrifying--but the people she's put there? They're something else. Strong, smart women and the alpha guys who love them--even when they disable their garage doors to keep them from doing something stupid. (I direct you back to the first quote above. It's a recurring theme.) Gathering Storm is the 4th book in the series, and yeah, reading them in order is probably your best bet to completely follow the plot threads that continue from book to book. You do get a bit of background here to remind you/bring you up to date with what's going on in this world and why, but it will all have more of an impact if you've kept up with things all along. Plus, then you'll better understand why I'm so anxious for Damon's book--and no, it's not just because he's the one with the Twinkies... ;) Rating: 4 stars / B+ I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I've read every one of the books in this series and if anything it gets better and better with each new book. The world that Zanetti has built is fabulous. The world kind of reminds me of a cross between The Walking Dead and The Last Ship. This series is nonstop action with a lot of romance and science thrown in. Every time a new book comes out, I put down whatever else I might be reading and proceed to read nonstop till I finish it. I love that while some of the characters are definitely evil and some are definitely the good guys, that there are those that you're not quite sure which side they'll fall down on. This is definitely a series I recommend for those that love post-apocalyptic stories with a bit of heat in the main characters. You will not regret binging out on this awesome, awesome series!

I loved this series. I have not read a book by this author that I dislike. The hard part will be waiting for the next book in the series. You can't go wrong with one of Rebecca's books.

I just finished reading Rebecca Zanetti’s latest Scorpius Syndrome book, Storm Gathering and there is absolutely no way write a non-spoilery review. Highlighting my favorite parts will only give everything away. Suffice it to say, this book dramatically, and quickly, moves the overarching story forward. Longtime readers will be pleased with the twists and turns. New readers might want to start at the beginning. While technically it stands alone, this one is better read with history. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

4.25stars--STORM GATHERING is the fourth full-length installment in Rebecca Zanetti’s adult SCORPIUS SYNDROME cross genre Sci-Fi/ UF/Dystopian series focusing on a biological pandemic sweeping the planet that has already killed 99% of the world’s population. This is US Marine sniper Greyson Storm, and biotechnology engineer Maureen Shadow’s (Raze’s sister) story line that looks at life in the aftermath, and the fallout from an unknown bacteria-from space. For more background information and some history, there is a prequel novella-SCORPIUS RISING-which can be found in the ON THE HUNT anthology (August 2015). NOTE: Some of the premise of STORM GATHERING runs parallel to and crosses over with the events of book three-Justice Ascending. SOME BACKGROUND: Some of those infected with the biological virus have survived to become something known as a Ripper, but there are two types of Rippers inhabiting the world-one is a zombie like creature who feasts on the living; the other is a survivor whose brain has been altered resulting in a stronger, more powerful enhanced human being sometimes bordering on the sociopath ideology with delusions of grandeur, obsession and hate. Told from several third person perspectives including Greyson and Maureen STORM GATHERING continues to focus on the struggle to survive as the depleting inventory at the Vanguard compound and Mercenary territories begins to push at the fragile hold each has on their safety, sanity and dwindling reserves. As head of the ‘Merc’ faction of post-apocalyptic warriors Greyson Storm is desperate to find more food and weapons for his growing population of forgotten refugees. Enter biotechnology engineer Maureen Shadow and the woman with whom Greyson will fall in love. What ensues is the back and forth, tepid relationship between the Vanguard compound and Mercenary territory; the struggle in their search for supplies; and the continuing attacks by the government’s Elite Forces, and the self-proclaimed president of the USA- a man once infected by the Scorpius virus who has since become a sociopathic Ripper. Greyson Storm is on a mission not only to protect the woman that he loves but to take down a tyrant desperate to take control of the few remaining resources . The relationship between Greyson and Maureen begins as a one-night stand following Maureen’s abduction from the Vanguard compound. Greyson’s attempts to secure a future for the many mouths he has to feed finds our hero taking risks including the kidnapping of the woman with whom he will fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. The sexual attraction is palpable; their energy is passionate and sensual. Greyson’s protective instinct goes into over-drive where our story line heroine is concerned. The world building continues to focus on the search for a cure. With the growing number of scientists and researchers under protection at the Vanguard Compound and Mercenary headquarters, the intrepid group of survivors starts locating some of the hidden files that focus on the bacteria and a potential cure. A possible merger between the two camps may be required if everyone is to survive the ongoing wars, and the raging wild fires burning out of control. STORM GATHERING is an edgy, encouraging and engaging story line. The premise will captivate your attention; the characters are colorful, animated and determined; the romance is hopeful.

This books is about Greyson Storm, leader of the Mercs and Maureen Shadow, Raze's sister. If you have read the other books in the series you will definitely recognize these two. This book starts off simultaneously with parts of the other book, but this way we see their whole story from the beginning. So, really if you have not read any of the other books you could read this one and not be lost. Though it is a continuing saga, so best read in order. This like the other books in the series are full of action and intrigue. There is a lot of action in this one which of course leads to loss. There is hope in this story too. The last story wrapped up a lot of questions/hanging threads, but this story starts on some new ones. We meet some new faces who should figure greatly in upcoming stories and put to bed some others. I think the thing I loved most about this book is Grey & Moe, they are truly a united pair. They start out very rocky. At their core they are two strong, individual people but become such a team that they help bring together the Mercs and Vanguard. Plus, Grey and Moe are super sexy together that burn up the pages with their chemistry. Of course, we see all of the people from previous stories until now because even though these are romances and have a central couple in each one, they are ensemble pieces. I am curious to see who is next. Hopefully we will not have to wait too long. Love the series and get more attached to the characters with every book. 5Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the publisher.*

Loved this book. This is this next book in this series and picks up back at Vanguard. Maureen is at Vanguard and is having a bit of a female issue which requires her to see the doctor. The fact that Marcus won't leave the doctor alone is scary and intimidating. But she has bigger problems and since Dr. Penelope can handle him she follows the doctor's orders. Greyson Storm, leader of the mercs and fond of Maureen is back with Damon. He had once kidnapped her and now he needs her back. When he asks her if she wants to return with him she says yes, to which Raze and Jax both say a profound and strong no to. So a fight ensues. As time continues on the two groups have several things in common, the big one being survival, the second and also as big being Maureen. So many problems, so little facilities and medications. Will they fight one another, ally with each other or join forces with the sociopath of a president? There are many things driving Grey but two things equal, keeping Maureen safe and keeping a promise. This is a fantastic book and it continues to morph and surprise me in a series as a whole. I am such a fan! I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I definitely recommend reading the previous books so you understand exactly what is happening in this book. It could be a stand alone but you would be lost about other connections without reading the previous ones. This book covers Greyson Storm and Maureen Shadow. Grey is in charge of the Merc's and Maureen is a Biotechnology Engineer that he had kidnapped in a previous book in order to get her brother to do what he needed him to do. In the previous book you could see the tension between them but you never really understood why it was that way. This book explains everything! I was iffy about whether I would like Grey after reading how he was in the previous books. I thought he came across as just a big giant jerk (putting it nicely!). I am soo happy that I was wrong! Yes, he does things that I don't necessarily agree with but they end up being things that need to be done. And it helps them all in the long run, especially Maureen. And there were times when I wondered whether he was going to do something just to get what he swore was all he wanted. I am so glad that I was wrong! Maureen seemed extremely innocent to me until I got farther in and realized there is much more to her character than that. Yes, she doesn't like violence but she also knows that sometimes it has to be done. That there are circumstances that exist that force their hands. Then you throw them together? It's like dynamite going off! They compliment each other in every way possible. Even while not always agreeing with each other they still manage to make things work. I loved this story. These characters and this world that has been created are such a great read that it just pulls you in and I know I didn't want to put it down. This book pushed the main story arc even further along and while answering some questions it did raise others in my mind. I can't wait to read the next book and see where it takes us next!

Storm Gathering is the 4th book Of Rebecca Zanetti's awesome Scorpius Syndrome Series. It's about a plaque that is trying to wipe out life as we know it and the strong group of willed people who won't let the human race die out. Of course there are also groups out there that just want to control the world not save it. Therefore making the battle to just survive that much harder. Storm Gathering centers around Greyson Storm, the leader of a mercenary camp full of men only and a former sniper. Greyson made a vow to revenge the death of his best friend by killing his killer. In order to do that he kidnaps Maureen Shadow a Biotechnology Engineer and the sister of a very dangerous man, Raze Shadow, lieutenant of a rival group of survivors called Vanguard. Raze will stop at nothing to get Maureen back and Grey will stop at nothing to revenge his friend. Both Maureen and Grey have been introduced to us in previous books through out the series and only part of their story was told. Grey kidnapped Maureen, her brother got her back, but what happened during the time she was held captive? Well you find out in Storm Gathering along with a few shocks you didn't see coming. This book is very fast paced and full of complex characters you can't help fall in love with and root for along the way. It's full of non stop action from page one. An excellent addition to an already awesome series and I highly recommend you read them in order. Rebecca Zanetti goes back and tells us parts of the story that have not yet been told while also moving the story forward to the everyday struggle of trying to survive in a post apocalypse world. I can't wait to see what happens next in Damon's, Greyson's second in command, story 'Winter Igniting'.

Can't get enough of this series!!!! This series just keeps getting better! What an incredible and interesting post apocalyptic world the author has created for us. So many characters to love or hate or both at the same time. It's just so good!! The action, the romance, the sci-fi aspect; I just love it all!! This is my favorite so far! I would love to see a movie based on this series or a series on TV. Greyson Storm, well he is just everything I hoped he would be and so much more than I thought he was. I just love his back story. Maureen Shadow, Moe, is such a strong heroine. I love her! She is smart and strong while still being just a little bit vulnerable. She and Grey are perfect for each other. They may have a lot going against them but they are both strong enough, as is their love, to make it through anything and whatever else this new and challenging world throws at them. Fantastic addition to this series! Bring on Damon's story!

In this installment of The Scorpius Syndrome we get Greyson and Maureen. We met these two in a previous book but did not get their beginning. I was glad that the author started their book with how they met and got to the point of their entry in the last book. We learn that while Maureen was taken to get Raze to deliver Vivienne to the Mercs. Despite being kidnapped by Grey, she comes to learn how honorable he is and makes the choice to keep working with him against her brother, Raze's wishes to see if they have any viable plants to help with future food growth. We have more battles with the President, Vice President and the Elite force. Some progress on Zach Barter and decisions that need to be made about where they need to finally settle that can provide the right soil for planting, wild game and fresh water all the while Grey and Maureen grow closer. Because of their relationship, Maureen has a new reason to get her hands on the Scorpius research to save not only the future of food growth but the future of a new generation of people. I think it's safe to say that I am in love with this series. Each book just gets better and better. I've found that I like a book that keeps me guessing as to what is going to happen next or what will get revealed to expose the plot of the series. While all this is going, Rebecca Zanetti brings me the alpha heroes I absolutely love to read about. I love reading men be men who fall fast and hard for their women. I love to read these men go all caveman and protect these women at all costs without being a complete jerk about it. Greyson is one of the best examples of this. I also love to read about heroines that are tough, independent and don't blindly follow what a man says. These two combinations in main characters make for an exciting dance and the sparks just fly. I would not suggest reading this series out of order. while each book focuses on one couple, it continues on with an overall plot from the start. Each character from each book continues onto the next. ARC provided by NetGalley.

4.5* Greyson "Grey" Storm and Maureen "Moe" Shadow are two of my favorite characters so far in the Scorpius Syndrome series. Grey Stormformer, foster kid to military sharpshooter has lived his life as a loner. After the Scorpius bacterium the world is a different place and Grey forms the Merc's a military like group. Maureen Shadow could be the only Biotechnology Engineer left after Scorpius to help secure there fading food sources. Grey tracks Moe down at the lab she's working in and kidnaps her to help secure food for his Merc stronghold. There's something intriguing about the strong spitfire he's kidnapped. Moe's going to kill him the first chance she gets if she doesn't fall in bed with him first. When the impossible happens Grey will do anything to protect Moe even if it means joining with the President. It's survival of the fittest. She might falling for Grey but not knowing where his loyalties lye she will back Vanguard and her brother with all that she has. This is not a stand alone book and should be read in order.

Rebecca Zanetti is an expert weaver of complicated characters and fast paced nonstop events happening after Scorpius' Destruction. Maureen Shadow is a Biotechnology Engineer working in a remote lab trying to save plant life to feed the survivors in the bacterial aftermath. Greyson Storm, a military sniper, has created a mercenary camp with the goal of not only establishing order in a chaotic world but with a revenge focus. Kidnapping Maureen is a plan Greyson comes up with to coerce her brother's help. With a ruthless nature but a kind heart Greyson and Maureen connect romantically despite circumstances involved. Enlightening locations and the challenges to survive after this devastation make for a gripping read. Even with this being a part of a series it can be read as a stand-alone. Makes me want to read novels 1-3 though. Loved the couple sentences to start each chapter sharing a journal entry from whose point of view is forthcoming. "A copy of this book was provided by RAZ INK LLC via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read and my comments are my honest opinion."
