To gain the only thing he truly wants, he'll have to risk everything.

Juliana, newly appointed Queen of the Unblessed, has realized there is a bit more to her position than she first thought. Sure, it has its perks: a sinfully sexy husband who is also a king, growing powers, and a magical life that's never boring, but the drawbacks are considerable. To save her kingdom from war, Juliana accepts assistance from a witch. But when her reality turns upside down, she realizes she's been betrayed.

For a brief time, Merrick knew happiness, as much happiness as the king of necessary evil could ever feel. Juliana has become the light in his darkness. Though he can never tell his wife he loves her--or risk upsetting the balance of both the mortal and immortal realms--the words are understood between them. Or so he thought. When she falls prey to a wayward spell, becoming encased in stone, he knows he'll have to risk everything to gain the only thing he truly wants.

Warning: This book contains an evil witch, a blundering wizard, meddling sprights, a new queen and the lustful king who plans on showing her just how fun it is to be in charge.

Michelle M. Pillow, New York Times & USA TODAY Bestselling Author

Michelle loves to travel and try new things, whether it's a paranormal investigation of an old Vaudeville Theatre or climbing Mayan temples in Belize. She's addicted to movies and used to drive her mother crazy while quoting random scenes with her brother. Though it has yet to happen, her dream is to be a zombie in a horror movie. For the most part she can be found wearing pajama pants and drinking coffee. There may or may not be dancing. It’s all part of the creative process.

Ms Pillow returns us to the complicated world with a delicate balance to follow the marriage of Merrick and Juliana. He is the ruler of Unblessed, happiness is not supposed to be part of his life, however he does love his wife. With her unwise contact with a witch she finds herself trapped in stone. The help she is supposed to get from that witch—can she be trusted? What will Merrick be willing to risk to save her? How will her family react, with they help or put Merrick in even more danger? This story is woven with many characters and side stories. It is best to read the series in order and you will be introduced to the other characters that help make this such a good read. Ms Pillow is a master of creating world of magic and other places other times with people to make the locations come a live. There is the entire realm of emotions and love, hate, family loyalty, trust and many more. It was good to read another well written book with a full scale plot and people the reader gets to discover the full potential and make up of those characters. I was provided an ARC for an honest review.

Great addition to the series. Explains a lot and adds a new dimension to the story line. Once I started reading I couldn't stop. Juliana is tricked into stone by a witch and Merrick finally figures out how to free her and admits his love for Juliana out loud & doesn't care who hears him. Can't wait to see what happens next. I was given this e-book by the publisher for the purpose of an honest review in my own words. I was not compensated in any way.

The detail in this book is wonderful and that's the main reason of many reasons that I'm fond of Michelle M. Pillow. The King and Queen of the Unblessed is who the book is most focused on, but there are the other usual characters (Mia and Lucien, Ean, Hugh, Thomas, William, etc.) who are tied into the plot. The Unblessed King wants his Queen and he is trying to find a way to pull her from the stone prison that she supposedly put herself into. This is the main plot throughout the book and though simple, Michelle M. Pillow found a way to tie more conflicts into the book on the side (of course they relate to the work as a whole). The one thing that I did not feel strongly about was the ending. Though carefree and humorous to some extent, I felt that there was to be more. Maybe there's to be another book? There was so much left to wonder about with the other characters such as Ari and Lucien and William and Thomas and Laden and Ean. But, overall, I recommend reading this book if you have read the other two because it ties up the relationship with Julianna and Merrik. Wonderful read. Enjoy!
