With their hearts' desires on the line, nothing can stop the Montana Men

Sadie Higgins has a bad habit of bailing her brother out of trouble. But when he rustles a herd of cattle from the tough, honorable Kendrick brothers, it's Sadie who's in for it. Because the cowboy tracking them down is big, silent, and forbidding as hell.

Rory Kendrick is on the hunt to find out who's been stealing from him. When he stumbles upon Sadie in the woods, he barely recognizes the quiet, vulnerable beauty who has always taken his breath away. His mission shifts in an instant: He will do anything it takes to keep her safe . . . and make her his.

Sadie has always protected her family—no matter the price. But when Rory ropes her heart, she's forced to take a look at her life and make a dangerous choice—one that could cost, or gain, her everything.

Very predictable as to what was going to happen thru most of the book. Not really worth the money. Glad I was able to use the Nook settlement to pay for it

Why do writers have to use foul language? This would of been a nice romance if they would left out the foul language.

Format: Galley Copy Wow, where to begin...Stone Cold Cowboy had me reeled in from page one. Though the first chapter was a bit hard to read with Sadie's brother leaving her in danger with a maniac to save his own hide. Thank goodness for Rory riding up and saving her life. Through the years Sadie has always been intimidated by Rory, always staring at her from afar with a frown on her face. Rory has been admiring Sadie from a distance and doesn't know what to do about it. Until fate throws a twist and he finds her close to dead on his land. Rory stole my heart, he may be rough around the edges but he's supportive, caring and protective. His care for Sadie even though her brother is nothing but a thorn in his side speaks volumes. As circumstances keep throwing them together their connection is undeniable. If you enjoy heart pounding, steamy cowboy romances that leave your heart happy then I highly recommend Stone Cold Cowboy.

STONE COLD COWBOY starts out with a punch of raw intensity and pretty much delivers more of the same throughout the book. Even with the powerful and unsettling opening chapter, Ms. Ryan still manages to balance out the danger with a sweet and exhilarating romance all the way to the end of the book. Sadie Higgins has spent her whole life trying to take care of her family after her mother's death and no matter how much she does, she's barely keeping her head above water. Between the mounting bills, the upkeep of the ranch, her brother's slide into drug addiction and the cost of his criminal activities, Sadie is pretty much tapped out. The last straw comes when her brother abandons her after she's attacked and left to die by one of his cohorts, but it's also the start of something beautiful in her life and it's now her turn to be pampered and taken care of. Rory Kendrick is on the hunt for cattle rustlers who have been stealing from him but the hunt takes a backseat to protecting Sadie. He's always been interested in her and now he has the perfect chance to keep her safe and happy, no matter the cost. Honestly? I think Sadie was too optimistic about the chances of her brother's rehabilitation and should have cut him loose long before things got that far, but I can't fault her for hoping day after day that the sweet boy she grew up with would find his way back. I loved the Kendrick boys and their grandfather, their fun and delightful relationship, their playful banter and how they opened up their hearts and home to Sadie, as well as supported her in her decision to protect her brother even though he was undeserving of it. STONE COLD COWBOY is a really great story with characters that are easy to relate to and is filled with action, danger, loss and emotion; at times uncomfortable and frustrating, but also carries a powerful message of hope and unconditional love. Cold Stone Cowboy grabbed me from page one and I couldn't put it down. No one does western romance with suspense like Jennifer Ryan. I loved Sadie and Rory's story. The amount of heartbreak and trauma one person can sustain as Sadie did, and still be so caring shows the love that she had to give to others. The brutality that the thug Derek imposed on Sadie while her brother stood by watching, left me in tears. Needing to heal and come to grips with a brother that is lost to her, Sadie found love in a situation that brought her and Rory together. Rory, the quiet oldest Kendrick brother had such love, honor and gentle protectiveness for Sadie. The Kendricks are a wonderful close knit family with the three brothers and granddad. I look forward to the next "Montana Men Novel". Highly Recommended. An easy 5 stars for me!

This was a tricky one to rate--there were things I liked, things I really liked, and things that didn't quite work for me. Things I liked: The Kendrick brothers and their grandfather. The four of them made quite a unit, and any time two or more of them were on the page you're pretty much guaranteed a smile or two. The hero and heroine had some really cute scenes together, and some fun romantic banter. For a "stone cold cowboy", Rory really knew how to pull out all the stops and be a total romantic when he was moved to do so. The basic premise of the plot kept me turning the pages. The beginning was intense and really pulled you right in to the story. Things I really liked: Rory was a great hero! Once he got past his initial apparent standoffishness, he was as sweet and caring as any girl could wish. Plus he's good with kids and animals--always a bonus (and a good sign!) And did I mention he's got a great relationship with his family? Plus--cowboy. 'Nuff said. ;) What didn't quite work: Too much navel-gazing going on with both the hero and heroine. A bit more actual conversation would have resolved so much, so much faster. Except... The dialogue often Everything would be going along swimmingly, but then there'd be an entire conversation that didn't quite feel natural. Especially true every time the DEA guy showed up. The opening scene was a bit over the top, but still riveting. The final showdown just felt over the top. Sadie's cryptic message to Rory about the map--what was up with that? She needed to just be done with her brother, period. Her refusal to see him for what he was had her veering into TSTL territory at times, which bothered me--especially when she said she knew better and she had promised her dad. So it was a tough call, but I'm going with a 3 1/2 stars / C+ rating. I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

Sadie has been through some hard times and deserves all the love in the world. She has been taking care of her father and rescuing her brother for years. When her brother steals cattle from the Kendricks, she tries to stop him, but instead is betrayed and left to die. Rory is out tracking his missing cattle when he comes across a bleeding and unconscious Sadie. He's admired her from afar and after he rescues her, he stays by her side to care for her. Sadie quickly realizes that Rory is actually really sweet and loving underneath the tough and intimidating looks. Their love progresses very quickly, but the circumstances and danger surrounding them have a lot to do with it. There's romance, suspense, heartbreak and danger that had me hooked from the very first chapter! I've enjoyed the previous books in the series with the Bowdens and can't wait for the other two Kendricks to find their match. 4.5 stars I received an ARC via Edelweiss for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.

When a story captures your mind, and heart, from the page one, and keep the hold, until you reach the last page, and it is the early morning hours, and you have smiled, and laughed, and sighed, and cries while reading it, you know you have something really special in your hands. This story, it is so brutally beautiful, with the pain, sorrow, fear, and threat, mixed with joy, bliss, charm and wonder, it blew me away. The brothers of Kendrick are a delight. Their banter, and joking is fun and light, but there's no doubt they wouldn't stand up for each other at any given moment, if the need would arise. How they, and Sammy, embraces Sadie into their family unit, is priceless. Sadie's relationship with her ailing father is heartbreaking with its sadness and its love. The rare moments of clearness with her father, their conversations, filled with life lessons, had me in tears. Sadie's brother, with the addiction, crime, and danger, that he brought to all of their lives, was frustrating, scary, and creepy. The first five chapters of the book flew by, as I was biting my nails in agony to know what was going to happen next. And that intensity kept through the story, with constant elements of peril from the drug world, and the sweet, sweet feelings that were growing in between Sadie and Rory. Because what they share is something amazing. The connection is breathtaking, but also intimidating, because of the speed everything is happening. They know what they feel, they realize how lucky they are to have what they have with each other, but it all happens so fast, while so much drama in their lives, they are fearful to lose it all. I absolutely adore this story, the characters are alluring and charming, and won my heart over from the start. I felt the emotional connection to them, and was rooting for them. The love scenes between Rory and Sadie are beautiful, the romance between them enticing. The dangerous moments through the story were well built, and brought another level of intrigue to the tale. I did not want the story to end, and will definitely keep an eye out for the next books in the series ~ Five Spoons!

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 WOW!!! The start of Stone Cold Cowboy starts of and a very heartbreaking way. Sadie finds herself in a situation that only a miracle will get her out of. I really enjoyed this book. Sadie is a trooper. Sadie is willing to do anything for those she loves including giving up her own happiness for them. But this last time with her brother was to much for even Sadie to handle. Thankfully she has a very stubborn cowboy in her corner. Rory Kendrick is one tough cowboy who is about get his world turned upside down by a one Sadie Higgins and her family. Rory had two choices. Turn his back or Cowboy up. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Ryan has in store for us next. Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Edelweiss & Avon in exchange for an honest review. What I love about Jennifer Ryan books is that they are family-centered. The stories are real, the emotion is raw and the romance is intense. I’m always emotionally drained after reading the stories but I absolutely love them! Sadie and Rory were beautiful together. Both are devoted to family and have sacrificed greatly for them. They also have a sense of responsibility that is unbending. They couldn’t be a more perfect couple. There are a lot of tough themes in the book that were at times uncomfortable and a little hard to read through but the love Rory and Sadie had for each other eclipsed them all. STONE COLD COWBOY is a solid romance filled with action, danger, intrigue, and lots of love. Love of family, friends and a genuine love of the heart between two people who “get” each other. Jennifer Ryan always delivers a beautiful love story full of hope and heart and I highly recommend this or any of her books! ***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. Let’s just say, I got way more than I expected from Stone Cold Cowboy. I was expecting a sweet and endearing cowboy romance with maybe a little cattle and horse play…but the raw intensity, brutal and sadistic attacks and heart felt emotion was a complete shock to my system. Ryan tells a story of a young woman, Sadie, struggling to keep her family together even when its ravaged by addictions, death and illness. The lengths Sadie will go to save those she loves only to be betrayed and left for dead made for amazing storyline. Rory becomes her rescuer, but a woman who has given so much does she have any more to give? For all she's given, Rory and his family finally give her back what she's been giving her entire life. This story was jarring; I didn’t expect it. That’s not to say it wasn’t a welcome shake up, it just totally took me by surprise. I really became entrenched in Sadie’s struggles and by that alone, I highly enjoyed Stone Cold Cowboy. I did have a little trouble justifying a few of Sadie’s choices, especially after the all she endured. Beyond Sadie’s lack of rational thought towards certain individuals, Stone Cold Cowboy was unique, unexpected and quite riveting. I received this ARC copy of Stone Cold Cowboy from Avon in exchange for a honest review.
