Overview

One hundred years ago, four crewmembers of the U.S.S EnterpriseTM crossed the dimensional barrier and found a mirror image of their own universe, populated by nightmare duplicates of their shipmates. Barely able to escape with their lives, they returned, thankful that the accident which had brought them there could not be duplicated, or so they thought.
But now the scientists of that empire have found a doorway into our universe. Their plan is to destroy from within, to replace a Federation Starships with one of their own. Their victims are the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D, who now find themselves engaged in combat against the most savage enemies they have ever encountered, themselves.

Not awful, but derivative and somewhat mechanical in style. Diane Duane has written some terrific Star Trek novels (Spock's World, The Romulan Way) but this isn't one of them.

An excellent Star Trek book that deals with the Mirror Universe. It is easy to read and understand even if you don't know much about The Next Generation.

In my veiw this book started the whole other universe theme and all where Star Fleet is well evil.
It is a great new read for new coming Sci-Fi readers because it shows first hand what us Trekies are all about while giving tons of actions.
You should KNOW that this book is to become a classic Trek book and that the evil bersions can get out of hands and since it was a early one before the the other universe Star Fleet thing got out of hand, I recommend a PG 13....

Oh yeah if your planning to watch the Star Trek: Enterprise epicode, tittled "In a Mirror Darkly" which lasts 2 and a HALF hours for the FULL version, I recomend you veiw it first before allowing your kids to watch it to decide. But don't worry that this book takes the Terran Empire to that level in this book...
