Two hundred years ago, a witch cursed all the women in Jura Mcnair's family to be widowed on their first wedding anniversary, until a true and perfect love could break the spell. About the Author

Born and educated in Scotland, Marguerite Kaye originally qualified as a lawyer but chose not to practice, a decision which was a relief, both to her and the Scottish legal establishment. While carving out a successful career in IT, she occupied herself with her twin passions of studying history and reading, picking up a first-class honours and a master's degree along the way. She also managed to find time to submit her first-ever manuscript to Mills&Boon, a story which she describes as "Monarch of the Glen meets Gardeners' Question Time!" Needless to say, it was very politely declined.

The course of Marguerite's life changed dramatically when she found her soul mate. After an idyllic year out, spent traveling round the Mediterranean, she decided to take the plunge and pursue her lifelong ambition to write for a living, a dream she had cherished ever since winning a national poetry competition at the age of nine. Putting her history degree to good use, she published articles in a number of Scottish history and travel magazines, a monthly column in her local paper, and at the same time submitted her first historical romance to Mills&Boon.

Though she continues to write regular pieces for a number of Scottish magazines and also publishes short stories in women's weeklies, romances are her passion. When she is not writing, Marguerite enjoys cooking and hill walking. A confirmed Europhile who spends much of the year in sunny climes, she returns regularly to the beautiful Highland scenery of her native Argyll, the place she still calls home.

had this on pre order and as soon as it came devoured it. I loved the whole atmosphere, just perfect for the time of year. Jura Mcnair is a witch and has been cursed by a great grandmother as have all the Mcnair women previously that the man they fall in love with will die. She is a lonely witch who does tricks for the children of the village. This I believe gives her some comfort. Helping her neigbours when they fall ill gives Jura something to live for. Until Laurence Connaught rides into her life and turns her world upside down and inside out. She tells him of the curse after they spend several days loving each other and lets him ride off into the sunset rather than risk loosing him to the curse. But true love will break the curse. Margurite got me again with this story, where i was shouting at my kindle. I had thought the curse had claimed Laurence but he gets to live with Jura and his child with the curse broken. Another great story from the pen of Margurite Kaye:)

This is a great story with an interesting storyline. Jura comes from a line of witches and healers who have been cursed by a spell that dooms each witch's true love to death. She has avoided the possibility of love by living alone and having minimal contact with the local villagers. When a stranger seeking shelter from a snow storm collapses near her cottage, Jura tends him and is intrigued enough to be wary of the curse. The possibility of love challenges her to test her own spells and capabilities for a chance at an expected future.
