Song of the Leopard

Song of the Leopard

by Sergio Dias

CD

Overview

This CD, recorded in South Africa and Brazil, is inspired by the experiences in South Africa of Brazilian guitarist Sergio Dias. The disc starts off very well, like Ladysmith Black Mambazo produced by Tom Jobim. However, later, they put the voices in the back and overproduce with guitar. But, buried like a lost silver dollar in the dirt is "Saweto, Tennessee" proving anything going into the country blender can come out classically novel. At times, this disc is nearly good as the work of soulful reggae vocalist Desmond Dekker.
