Overview

“Endlessly surprising . . . [A] twisty tale.”

—Wall Street Journal

After a very public mental breakdown, Rachel Childs, once a tenacious, globe-trotting journalist, now lives as a virtual shut-in. In all other respects, however, she enjoys an ideal life with an ideal husband. Until a chance encounter on a rainy afternoon causes that ideal life to fray. As does Rachel’s marriage. As does Rachel herself. Sucked into a conspiracy thick with deception, violence, and possibly madness, Rachel must find the strength within herself to conquer unimaginable fears and mind-altering truths.

“A sleek thriller . . . Well-crafted suspense.”

Tampa Bay Times

Lehane has, once again, crafted gripping characters as flawed as the rest of us who are still attempting to cope in a world full of psychological quicksand. Rachel is as fascinating as Lehanes other protagonists while she appears to be inadequately armed to face the challenges life presents. She will continue to fascinate and surprise in equal measure and readers will be hard pressed to break away from her and this roller coaster of a plot even for a moment. Worth reading twice. Highly recommended.

Fst half was great. The second half felt like a different book. The nding was predictable and boring. It felt dissapointing, but the first half was good enough to make up for it. Never read anythung else by this author but still would.

Do I think it'll win any prestigious literary awards? Ummm, no! But it has lots of twists and turns that makes for a good read. It DOES take about 200 pages to get "into" it and you might be scratching your head on why certain characters were even introduced because they will not be pertinent to the overall story...but like I said, it's not an award winner.

A mystery in parts. Draws you in at the beginning. Complications increasingly unrealistic. Great writing stylte, though.

Author. Dennis Lehane has written another good story. The plot line is quite decieving. The novel twists and turns and takes you places you could not imagine. Another wonderful effort by a writer who of exceptional talent. Heartily recommended.J M Lydon

Really good story Maybe a bit too graphic. His characters are always well drawn, human and full of believable surprises.

When Rachel's mother passes away in a tragic accident, she takes with her the answer to the question Rachel has been seeking her whole life - who is Rachel's father? Having little information to go on she attempts to hire a private investigator to find the man her mother wanted to keep hidden. After PI Brian Delacroix is unable to find him, Rachel continues on with her life and builds a career as a successful journalist. A particularly distressing assignment causes Rachel to suffer a mental breakdown and she becomes a virtual shut-in. While wallowing in her destroyed life over a glass of vodka a person from her past walks back into her life and leads Rachel down a path filled with deception, conspiracy and danger. Will Rachel be able to come to terms with all of the lies she has been told and find the strength to pull herself out of the mess she is in. "Since We Fell" is a true thriller set in and around the Boston area that will keep you saying "just one more chapter" until the final page. This is a must read for all you mystery lovers.

I thought I knew what this story was about until the middle of the book. Then it took a sharp turn and became another story entirely, one I couldn't put down! Lehane is a master storyteller, and his understanding of people and their motivations is astonishing. Loved this book.

While this novel certainly is well worth reading , I found the first half much more believable than the second . Few if any of the characters are who they seem to be .The story is far fetched at best . If there is a love story in the melee, it surely wouldn't be my cup of tea ! But , still an interesting read.

I can't believe this is the same man who wrote Mystic River and so many more. Unbelievable and unlikable characters who you grow to dislike so much you don't care what happens at the end. Forced myself to finish this because I paid for it.

Glad to have a new Lehane book to devour. Lots of twists and turns, action and characters who remind us of the complexity of each human heart.

SINCE WE FELL by Dennis Lehane. I wasn’t sure about this book - if I would like it or not. But once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. It is a true psychological triller - tense, edgy, suspenseful, demanding of the reader. Usually I have trouble finishing a book or I don’t like a book if I don’t feel a context or understanding of the storyline or if I dislike the characters. But SINCE WE FELL is different. Even though I had little feeling for Rachel Childs and her various ‘situations’, I couldn’t get away from the suspense of the story. The twists and turns of the various storylines left me ‘curiouser and curiouser’ and on the edge of my seat. I would recommend this latest book by the great writer, Dennis Lehane.

Positively awful. Hard to believe this is a Dennis Lehane book - there is no way the person that wrote such fabulous books as Mystic River or Shutter Island had any hand in writing this one. Don't waste your $ or your time.

It is not a typical Lehane novel, but very enjoyable.

A bit of a departure for Lehane in that this does read a bit like a romance story in the early going. The story line had enough plot twists to keep me engaged, but the ending was flat. Clearly this was either written as two books and divided or Lehane had deadline to meet and ran out of time. The ending just leaves you hanging without much closure. Is there a part two in the works to answer all that remained unanswered?
