Overview

After the tragic death of his parents, a young heir is drawn back to his ancestral home in England. The responsibility of assuming his family's vast holdings draws young Geoffrey into a hornet's nest embezzlement, arson, and murder. He finds that outsiders are not welcome in the small coastal town of West Brighton and soon attracts enemies. Life in his beloved Shearing Manor is rapidly becoming a mix of intrigue, lies, and deceits.
While visiting the lovely coastal town one day, Geoffrey encounters a very striking young lady. Standing at a good six feet tall, this shy librarian finds the attractive young man both interesting and puzzling. Her new emotions are something she has never dealt with before, and she seeks to hide from them.
Abbigail Farworthy has been told that she will never have the opportunity to marry and have a family like normal women would because she towers over most men and she is too thin and too geeky. Abbigail had resigned herself to her fate but now struggles to find herself and her purpose in life while constantly running into this handsome yet troubling Yankee from America.
Does Abbigail find herself while Geoffrey is nearly beaten to death? Does Inspector Holyoke solve the mystery at West Brighton Industries in time? Can Geoffrey repair the damage done to the company and heal the employees? Can a simple English country girl find love with an American who by now has been uncovered as Geoffrey Shearing, Lord of Shearing Manor, by his fiancée from New York?

About the Author

John sees himself not as an author but primarily a storyteller. As a young father, John was called upon by his children to constantly tell them stories. At first, these stories revolved around his life’s experiences but later evolved into an eclectic array of science fiction, fantasy, adventure, and mystery.
His intent is to encase his stories in interesting and romantic backdrops while writing about people who reflect faith, character, and purpose in their lives. He aims to present us with a story that can assure our faith and provide us with an entertaining escape from our daily life.
Growing up in Southern California during the late fifties and early sixties, John auditioned for Leonard Bernstein’s Young People’s Philharmonic as a pianist. He was also scouted by the California Angels and invited to their spring training camp in 1965. However, Uncle Sam had other plans for John, and he spent five years in the US Army. John soon found himself working in the Army Security Agency. He spent three years behind the iron curtain in Berlin, Germany, as the Special Operations Group Top Secret Security Control Officer.
Upon exiting the military, John completed his bachelor’s degree and would later complete his master’s degree. John is still active in his auditing business and maintains clients across America. He resides in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with his lovely wife, Sharon. They have been married for forty-four years. Their three grown children live in Orlando, Charlotte, and Indianapolis. They have been blessed with two grandsons who know John as Papa.
