A discharged Army Ranger, Ben considers his job as a BDSM club security guard to be an excellent hobby. He's never been tempted to join in. But everything changes when the notorious Mistress Anne inadvertently reveals the caring heart concealed beneath her Domme armor.

Now, he's set his sights on the beautiful Shadowlands Mistress. Maybe he'd considered himself vanilla, but she can put her stiletto on his chest any day, any time. He'll trust her delicate hands to hold his heart. And if she wants to whip his ass on the way to an outstanding climax, he's just fine with that too.

Sure, he knows she likes "pretty boy" slaves. And he's older. Craggy and rough. And six-five. Minor hindrances. The mission is a go.

370+ pages. I really, really don't like Domme/sub books. It's just not my thing. But I will read anything Cherise writes. And OMG! This far, far exceeded my expectations and hopes. Anne and Ben are so perfect together. This book could not have been any better. We got in-depth time with some of the other couples. Good times with the Shadowkittens. And plenty of the Masters attention, too. With lots of laughter, some suspense and action and a few tears, this book had it all. (Did I forget to mention the sex scenes were boiling hot?) This book is a stand-alone but has lots of previous character involvement. Do yourself a favor, read all of Cherise's books. Also, there is no cliffhanger (Thank God). But I'm soooo ready for the next book right now!! I PAID for my copy of this book. I PAID for my copies of ALL of Cherise's books. This is TRULY an honest review. It's an amazing book. Thank you, Cherise. More, please?

Wasn't sure I was going to like this book. I'm not drawn to male subs. Ben is an alpha male who knows who he is and can submit with confidence. Anne is a strong confident female who hides a soft heart. Ben and Anne are a strong couple who can let each other be who they are and love one another unconditionally. I should have known Cherise Sinclair wouldn't disappoint.

Despite being absolutely nervous over writing a domme I think it was wonderfully done. And I'm going to giggle like mad whenever I recall Jessica trying to follow Anne's advice.

Protecting His Own is an extention of Master Nolan and Beth's story from the Shadow land Series. Anyone who has read this series knows that Cherise has a way of getting you emotionally involved. The tears, laughs, love, sex and friendships makes a great read. Love you Cherise.

In book ten of the Masters of the Shadowland Series by Cherise Sinclair we get to finally read Domme Anne's story. In Srving the Target, we meet a female dominate which is rare to meet in The Shadowlands, but we have meet Anne in previous books. We also have meet the Shadowlands Entry Guard, Ben. This book lets us see how strong men, can be sexually submissive and while strong women can be dominate in the bedroom that it's okay to let a man be concerned and protective. In this book we see that the Domme sadist Mistress we once knew may be changing. Her boy toy Joey and her, from previous books, are no longer a couple. Anne is a former Marine, former cop, and current bail bonds fugitive recovery agent. She teaches the other submissive a personal safety defense training and helps out at the local women's shelter. She is a strong women in a mans world, but maybe things are changing for her. She is no longer enjoying inflicting pain on her subbies. She's no longer angry about how the world works with men treating her like she's fragile. In walks Ben whole she refers to as the guard dog. Ben I s a vet and has suffered psd. He has always said he was vanilla and nas never been inside the club to participate of watch the goings on. Until one night he pushes things a little to far with Domme Anne, spiking her interest and making her interested in a scene. The person they thought they were is challenged in this story, until they take several steps to really learn who they are now. Everyone goes through the change and Ben and Anne have gone through changes in this story. I loved this story because we get to see everyone else from the series, all the other dogs and their submissives. It's such an great story, even though it's hard for me to relate to the idea of a Domme. While I love the whole series, this book could be a stand alone, but I highly recommend the whole series. Can't wait for the next book in the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had to have a kleenex from the half way point on. You know when writing is that good, that you can't put it down, long enough to sniffle because you want to find out how it ends. Bravo Zulu, Mistress!

I received this book from the Publisher, in exchange for an honest review. I did not think it was even possible to have such a crush on an author as I do for Cherise Sinclair, this author continues to blow me away. Talk about surprise, Ben was a huge one. This intense hero had so many levels within his character, I could not wait to see which one would won out in the end. Ben was in over his head when Mistress Anne captured his attention, now that he had all of her concentration what will the sexy Ben do to keep it and her? First off Thank you Ms. Sinclair for Mistress Anne’s story, this series could not be complete without it. Even though I was shocked to learn about Anne’s predicament, I was happy to see she bounces back in strides. Anne lives for the scene or so she thought. Now being plagued by a certain door guard, Anne isn’t quite of what to do with him. I have to add that there are some intense moments in Servicing the Target. Mistress Anne and Ben create enough heat sure enough, but what kept me glue to this book is the strong pull they had for each other. There’s no possible way Ben could not be unaffected by Mistress Anne’s flogging ability, but can he truly live a D/s lifestyle? Mistress Anne is capable of so many things, but when the most important thing is right in front of her can she throttle back and admit what she wants. I was on pins & needles just itching to find out. It was nice to see the other characters from previous books as well, along with some additional scenes with them and their lives. All I will say is there are some magical moments I am truly glad Ms. Sinclair let us see. I adore that throughout this whole series that there is high respect between the characters and some mischief as well. Poor Ben & Mistress Anne *grins* Master Z is at it again. The plot as usual takes place in Shadowlands club where Mistress Anne and Ben meet, but there are other outings as well. Servicing the Target is a great addition to this series and quite possibly my favorite. The sex hands down is always excellent, the scenes are well described, the plot penned with the amazing talents of Cherise Sinclair, but it is the romance and love between Ms. Sinclair’s characters have that is the Magic of the Shadowlands Series. As always Cherise Sinclair never disappoints! Her Shadowlands series I hold in high esteem. Rated 5 Stilettos & A Recommended Read !!

I always know anything cherise writes will be top of the line but this has to be one of my favorites. I love Ben and Ann together. The way she wrote about some of the challenges our war veterans face was heartbreaking and inspiring. Then she puts a stong alpha male and a Domme together and makes it believable without compromising either character, that's why she is the Best of the Best!

These books by Cherise (shadowland & the others) are great books. Once i start reading i cant put them down. Ive read them all more than once. Also i like that she gives the advice & warning in the begining. Thats a great thing to do exspecially since some readers think romance novels are like real life and they just are not. Thanks Cherise. Keep them coming!

Reviewed by Annie and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog There’s no better place to be than back at the Shadowlands. SERVICING THE TARGET is a book that I’ve been looking forward to since Mistress Anne stepped into one of the scenes in the previous books. She carries so much power and femininity that you can’t help but feel drawn to her. I was very much looking forward to see how Sinclair would portray her since she is a Domme who also enjoys administering pain. The hero, Ben Heugan, however is someone we don’t know too much about. Ben is the Shadowlands guard dog. While he has the confidence of Master Z, Anne is a little more wary of him. For one, she is attracted to him but Ben has no interest in kink. Or so she thinks. He has called himself “vanilla” but when they share one scene together, it’s clear that Ben does like a little something extra with his sex. What was different about this book was while I thought Sinclair would write a typical Domme story, she did something interesting with Anne. She showcased both her hardcore, badass side OUTSIDE of the Shadowlands and in particular, with her day job and displayed a much “softer” side to her Domme in the actual sex scenes. This was interesting because we don’t really see the characters outside of the Shadowlands too often any more. And also, I quite liked the juxtaposition that Sinclair created with Anne’s character. It was a nice surprise, something different that set her apart from the other Domme stories I’ve read. And what’s even more unique is that as Anne develops feelings for her subs, she no longer feels the need to hurt them. Once she cares about them, the aggression fades. In addition to a great romance, Sinclair also gives her loyal readers some updates on previous characters. This time we get to see some beautiful life moments for Master Z and Jessica. It’s all very beautiful and inspiring, which goes to show you just how talent Sinclair is as a writer. She’s capable of writing intense BDSM but she can write really touching, intimate moments as well. I think that’s why this series has done so well. Within these ten books in the series, a lot of these characters have grown and continue to grow with each book. With each book in the The Masters of the Shadowlands series, Sinclair brings better passion and romance. It’s definitely one of my all-time favorites in the genre.

Cherise Sinclair has done it again. This is my favorite series, and she has woven a terrific D/s story with two unlikely characters. I couldn't put it down. Master R and Kim's story has been my favorite until now. It was great to catch up with favorite characters. Can't wait for more!

This book was amazing. A sadist domme with a penchant for pretty boy slaves and a not particularly attractive vanilla man. It shouldn't work except it does work and beautifully so. Sometimes you're so set in your way you don't notice you and your needs have changed. I love Mistress Anne and Ben. They both remain true to who they are while falling in love. I'm so glad they got a story. I loved finding out what makes them tick. Cherise has a true gift for pulling a reader into a story! Thank you for a wonderful book and for keeping Ben strong. It wouldn't have worked any other way.

Excellent read! Have loved the entire Shadowland series, but was a little nervous about Servicing the Target, knowing either Ben or Anne would have to change to fit into this book. Started reading and literally couldn't put the book down. Cherise Sinclair made the dynamics work, you could feel the emotions, lots of surprises, just can't say enough good about this one. Loved catching up with all her old characters and seeing some potential new ones!

I never have turned away from a Cherise Sinclair book and being as I normally would not read books with female doms (mistress) and male subs I am sure glad I did read this one! Many of us that have followed this series from the beginning have met Mistress Anne (a sadist) and her subs as well as Benjamin the guard at the door who is pure Vanilla. So, it came as a surprise of how well theses two were as a couple and how even with their differences and troubles still managed to prevail and fall in love. I see myself rereading this book many times and laughing, crying, and enjoying the inside scoop of this odd pairing over and over again. If you have any doubts of reading Servicing the Target please read it anyway. You will be glad you did. I can't wait to see who comes next in the Master of the Shadowlands series!
