The story starts with Kanen, Taylor, and Nelson off to night training in Germany when Kanen gets a call from Laysa an old friend. Laysa being held hostage because Blake, her dead husband, had something that the kidnapper wanted. At this point Kanen with his teammates go into action to protect Laysa who’s living outside of London. Once they arrive, they focus on finding the item that Blake was holding and then capturing the Kidnapper. I couldn’t put the book done once I started it. Like all of the books in the SEALs of Honor series, this one ended with the HEA for Kanen and Lysa. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a book that has you on the edge of your seat right from the start. I gobbled up the pages because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. The mystery of what Laysa's deceased husband was up to because some scary people are after her now. Kanen is going to do everything in his power to keep her save and unravel the mystery before it's too late. This was a fast read for me, but one that kept hooked.

Kanen doesn't even blink an eye before rushing off to do what he can to help figure out the mystery surrounding Laysa's dead husband. Another thrilling adventure ride from Dale Mayer! Set aside enough time to read the whole book, or you're going to lose sleep. You won't be able to put the book down. Page turning excitement right here. I enjoyed this excitng read. With an engaging blend of romance, suspense, danger, action, mystery, drama, secrets, and emotional turmoil, the story grabs and holds your attention. I liked both Laysa and Kanan. The pull of attraction between them was strong enough to feel and I felt that the complex feelings and fears they had over it was realistic and relatable.

(3.5) There are plenty of Seals and stories to be told, I am not tired of the series, but this one dropped me. Started off extremely well, but I am not really sure how I feel about the relationship dynamics. I get the friends to lovers, etc but this one didn't take me. The mystery was also a no go for me and I felt the dead husband was more a jerk they both should have seen through. That being said it is always awesome to run across old friends. They warm the soul. Sorry this one was Rocky for me, maybe I wasn't coming from the right place. Thank you so much for the Arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own and we're unsolicited.

Laysa is surprised when her home is broken into and she is tortured and held against her will because she doesn't know anything about a package her dead husband was supposedly keeping for her attacker. Her attacker forces her to make a call to her husband's best friend, Kanen, who immediately comes to try to help her. Laysa manages to escape and once Kanen and his friends arrive, they launch an investigation into trying to find the information Laysa's attacker is after. Laysa and Kanen have been friends for a long time and spending time together on the investigation brings them closer together. Can they give in to their feelings and not look at it as a betrayal to Laysa's dead husband and Kanen's best friend? They will need to solve the investigation first and see if they still feel the same in the end.

Kanen by Dale Mayer SEALs of Honor Series Book ?? Kanen Larson was out on a training op with Nelson and Taylor. When an old friend calls and she's in trouble...the three of them head out to England. Kanen plans on finding out what's going on and he has plans on dealing out some violence of his own to the man who dared to hurt Laysa. Laysa Elliott had loved her husband, Blake. Kanen had been his best friend and hers. As things start unfolding, it brings up questions of how well she really knew her husband. Now she was just thankful to have such a protector as Kanen and his friends. Another great suspense romance with another “keeper” in the end. **Sexual content

This is book 19 in the SEALs of Honor series and it features Kanen and Laysa. This is first and foremost a mystery and lastly a very slight friends-to-lovers romance. I just didn’t feel like there was much thought put into this story line. The mystery was not exciting…AT ALL. To have three Navy SEALs, four if you include Mason and MI6 involved in a story that could’ve been led by a regular guy and an inquisitive woman, made this book fall way short of this authors previous works. We’re also left with too many questions about Blake’s character as a man and a husband. Oh, and we didn’t even get to meet Charles! Although this book definitely wasn’t one of my favorites, I do look forward to future books by this author.

This is another exciting book by Dale Mayer! I have a tendency to read each book so fast to find out who the culprit is that I can read it again for slower enjoyment catching things I missed the first time around. This is a story of Kanen who answers a call for help from an old friend Layla, who has been held hostage and beaten for information on the whereabouts of a package that her deceased husband (who was also a friend of Kanen) had hidden for another friend. Very involved and includes M16 and a merry chase trying to follow clues to an answer. Anger, greed and a sense of entitlement are part of this story but honor, loyalty and caring are a part as well. Well done! Definitely a romantic suspense! I'm looking forward to more!

This was a great book. It kept me engrossed from start to finish. Loved the story but didn't want it to end! The story and the interaction between the characters kept me engrossed. I also loved how Dale referenced other characters from another book into this story line. The characters are awesome and so lovable and have you rooting for them till the very end! The flow of the book is written so that you just keep on reading. If you love a great mystery and a love story you will absolutely love this book! Laysa, Blake and Kanen. Friends for decades. Laysa and Blake married. Blake served in the navy and Kanen became a navy SEAL. Leaving the navy, Blake and Laysa moved to England. Kanen was friends with the couple and, when Blake died, continued being a friend and support to Laysa. On maneuvers in Europe, Kanen received a phone call from Laysa. Tortured for the location of something her husband had kept, now the kidnapper wanted Kanen to find the something in exchange for Laysa. Kanen and his fellow SEALS Taylor and Nelson immediately fly to England to rescue Laysa and to mount a bizarre scavenger hunt.

When Kanen gets a call from his late best friend’s widow, Laysa he rushes to her rescue with two other members of a SEAL team. Once he gets there his protective side shines through for his old friend Laysa but also some more feelings arise between them as they race to find out who threatened and beat her up and why. A great read with a bit of steam, suspense and some action which was another page turner from this author. I LOVE the little to no drama between them and how once they know it’s for them, there’s no doubts, no running away and no hiding their feelings and intentions. I also enjoyed the two new characters, Nelson and Taylor and I can’t wait to read their stories. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*

When a Navy Seal Kanen hears a distress call, he and his buddies heed the call and race to the rescue. When they get there, the crisis is over and all is well. Nope, not at all. Laysa is running thinking the guy who beat her was back. He didn't know she was staying with friends who Carl just happened to be a police officer. Laysa tells Kanen what is happening and he and his buddies take over and start following the clues. Never dreaming where they would take them. This is full of twist turns and a surprise ending. I will not give a spoiler and if I say more, it would spoil it for you. You can never go wrong with a Dale Mayer book. A fantastic read straight in with some action and suspense that carries on through the book, a threat that builds with a twist here and there to stop you really guessing the outcome or the bad guy, at least for most of it anyway. I loved the really strong friendship bond the two main characters had and not just because of her deceased husband but in their own right as well, to read and hope it would blossom into more for both kept me gripped. The plot is interesting and a bit different in subject matter, the two other main characters came across as very likeable and I look forward to their books. Dale always manages to weave something that keeps you a little off kilter but at the same time give a bit of an edge which I love, the romantic side usually starts fairly early but sometimes she mixes it up and slows it down as was the case here. Once it starts though you expect a few sparks and definitely a bit of protectiveness with the guys behaviour. Fabulous read.

Another Exciting Adventure! I am always ready to sit down and read the next book in this exciting series. This fabulous story is full of mystery, conflict surrounding Laysa’s dead husband and traveling to beautiful places. I love how protective Kanen is as he flies to Laysa’s rescue after her tearful call for help. I enjoyed the many twists and turns as this story leads you on a mysterious adventure around England and Spain. I love the connection of a decades old crime, unsavory family members, the “who done it” vibe and the ever-present greed and revenge that never goes away. It always amazes me about the “guy” who feels obsessive in his mind that he has been severely wronged, he should get everything and will do almost anything to obtain what he feels he’s entitled to. This aspect of the story, along with the protective measures Kanen and his friends are taking, keep the reader invested in seeing what will happen next. This story has it all, the mystery and danger, damsel in distress, discovery of new love and, of course, HOT men! I can’t wait for the next book in this series! I loved it!

I have loved all Dale Mayer's books and this one is no exception, the first thing that I appreciate is the research that she must do prior to writing her books, her knowledge of the military and the terminology is outstanding. Kanen is part of a navy seal team, and the author paints a strong picture of the absolute trust and belief in each other that is shared by each member of the team and the camaraderie that exists between them. Laysa was married to Kanen's best friend Blake and has been recently widowed. Without spoiling the story I can tell you that she was in deep trouble, she didn't know it at the time but her life was in danger and she turns to Kanen for help' The story twists and turns and involves, Kanen, his seal team, the MI6 in England and various other seal team colleagues. Kanen has always been in love with Laysa but even so was happy for both her and Blake when they married . There was a gentle chemistry and the romance between Kanen and Laysa was slow burning but obvious to everyone but them, the problem was that both of them thought that they were betraying Laysa's late husband. The slow burn turns to fast burn and they fall in love, do they have a HEA ? you will have to read the book to find out. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
