After a summer spent trying to prevent a catastrophic war among the Greek gods, Percy Jackson finds his seventh-grade school year unnervingly quiet. His biggest problem is dealing with his new friend, Tyson-a six-foot-three, mentally challenged homeless kid who follows Percy everywhere, making it hard for Percy to have any "normal" friends.

But things don't stay quiet for long. Percy soon discovers there is trouble at Camp Half-Blood: the magical borders which protect Half-Blood Hill have been poisoned by a mysterious enemy, and the only safe haven for demigods is on the verge of being overrun by mythological monsters. To save the camp, Percy needs the help of his best friend, Grover, who has been taken prisoner by the Cyclops Polyphemus on an island somewhere in the Sea of Monsters, the dangerous waters Greek heroes have sailed for millennia-only today, the Sea of Monsters goes by a new name the Bermuda Triangle.

Now Percy and his friends-Grover, Annabeth, and Tyson-must retrieve the Golden Fleece from the Island of the Cyclopes by the end of the summer or Camp Half-Blood will be destroyed. But first, Percy will learn a stunning new secret about his family-one that makes him question whether being claimed as Poseidon's son is an honor or simply a cruel joke.

The whole series of Percy Jackson is great. I am 30 yr old lawyer and have read all of them. They are basically just alot of fun. The greek mythology is interesting because I dont really know much about it. The writing is mostly the same from book to book with the same types of battles and issues for Percy and his friends to endure, but it is fun enough where it doesnt get boring even after the 5th book. These will not be repeat reads for me, but they are a fun way to space out each night and explore Percy Jackson's world. Fun and enjoyable books for any age.

I read this book to my 12 yr old daughter who has a reading disability. The characters were engaging and memorable with funny and poignant dialogues. She especially liked Tyson. She really enjoyed the story and wants to read more. She has even attempted to read some of it on her own which is difficult for her so that tells you how much she liked it. We have bought the rest of the books that have been written so far with the intent to read them all.

I was drawn to "The Sea Of Monsters" by the way the first book "The Lighting Thief" ended. The first book was interesting, and non- stop action, which lead to the second book. It starts right before his last couple days at school. He thought that finally out of all of these long antagonizing years, that finally he would finish the year and not get kicked out. But he was so very wrong. It all started when he began having nightmares about his best friend Grover. His mom later said something was wrong at camp, Camp Half Blood. His friend Annabeth also said that, on her arrival from another state, then they decide to go and find out just what it is that is wrong! A mystery that needed solved. Personally, I enjoyed reading this book. It had magnificent details, and a great story-line. Rick Riordan, the author created a terrific set of sequel books. The first one was interesting, and this one is amazing. It has a lot of wisecracks, jokes, and a lot of unnatural powers. Overall this book is good for people who like to hear about myths and non-believe creatures, but if you believe in non-believe creatures this book isn't for you. You should always read books that you like, but if you are going to believe that this stuff is real than you really shouldn't read it. It's a good book for kids, sixth grade and up. It has details that little kids wouldn't understand. It has seventh grade vocabulary, and if you like mythical creatures, wisecracks, and the seventh grade words then this book is perfect for you.

The second book in the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series, "The Sea of Monsters," by Rick Riordan, will definitely not disappoint readers after the first book, "The Lightning Thief." Being completely enjoyable and super action-packed, "The Sea of Monsters" is a fantastic sequel!

The Sea of Monsters is a perfect sequel to the Lightening Thief. It continues the thrilling adventures of Percy Jackson and his friends. The way Riordan weaves mythology into this book (series) is uncanny and unforgettable! His writing is "spot on", as you read you'll find yourself right there in all the action-seriously-my breath was taken away!

could you imagine how difficult life would be if you had dyslexia and ADHD? well percy jackson had that and had to deal with greek monsters and much more to endour when his bestfriend is kidnapped. The characters in this story seem very real and described very well. The main character is percy jackson who is a demigod which is half human half god like herculeas and there are alot more like him all over the world. His best friend is grover the saytr and his other friend isanabeth who is the daughter of athena. The quest begins when grover goes missing because he thinks he found the great god pan who has been missing for a long time. through the story grover sends clues through an empathy link he and percy have established. percy finds out he has to go into the sea of monsters which is the bermuda triangle. this story is in a modern day setting.the greek gods are real and they move with western civilization mount olympus is on the empire state building and the sea of monsters is the bermuda triangle. i hope u enjoy this book

The Sea of Monsters; Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan is a great fantasy book. I really liked this book because the characters always refer back to the first book because The Lightning Thief when they remember something that happened. Also I liked how the author used dialogue for the characters and not just say it himself. The setting of this book is mostly in New York at Camp Half-Blood which to mortals, it¿s only a strawberry field, but to half-blood¿s it¿s a camp for each of the different God¿s kids.
One of the major conflicts is that when the tree Thailia is poisoned and can¿t secure Camp Half-Blood, three kids: Percy , Annabeth and Tyson must go out on a journey to the Sea of Monsters( known to mortals as The Bermuda Triangle) and find evil master mind. During the story Percy Jackson has a dream of his friend Grover in need of help, but when Grover tells him he found the Fleece to save the camp, the camp travels out to find him. Also an old enemy Luke is so suspicious of this crime, but Percy doesn¿t know what he¿s capable of. Next, when the God of Thieves helps him, Percy wonders¿ is this good or a trick?
The author makes this interesting because he¿s not the only one talking, or narrating he uses dialogue of the characters to do the talking. This book would only be recommend for those above 10 and who like fantasy books. You will not drop this book until you¿re done.

The movies messed everything up! Percy Jackson is 13 in the Sea of Monsters NOT 17! I mean there is a prophecy that this series is based on. And in movies Percy will be 21 in The Last Olympian! PRESS YES IF YOU AGREE THAT THE MOVIES SERIOSLY SCREWED UP!

After I read The Lightning Thief I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. It was even better than I had hoped. This book is epic and very absorbing. It's an extremely easy read I read it in probably around 3 and a half hours. I'd definitely pick it up sometime.

I read sections of this book every night to my 9 year old grandchild. He lives about a thousand miles away, so I get on Skype and spend about half an hour before his bed time reading from the book. Book does well introducing the names and provinces of Greek gods and is a great teaching aid as well as good story for a young one.

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters is the second book in the Percy Jackson series and of course just as amazing. Don’t be turned off by the narrative of a twelve year old it’s utterly amazing and perfect for people of all ages. And of course another year at Camp Half Blood means another chance for Percy to get himself killed. A great and adventurous must read.

Overall, I think this book is worth the time to read. It was not as good as the first, but then when is a second book ever as good as the first. Kids are often lost in all of the Greek references but it's manageable.
