Just...a perfect ending. But room for more...beyond?

I enjoyed the book very much and I laughed and cried alternately which is pretty much what happens with any Odd book BUT I think it could have been better. We still don't know what being smoothed out and blue is or if Odd achieved it, and there are so many loose ends left in the story you could knit a sweater. I still love Dean Koontz and have read nearly everything he has ever written and I think Odd Thomas is a wonderfully complex and original character; and because I have enjoyed knowing him I think Odd deserved a richer story for his final chapter. I enjoyed the book felt kind of let down and left hanging.

I've been a loyal fan of Mr. Koontz, and couldn't wait for this book to release. Now I wish I never read it because now it's over. Awesome series. I'll miss it dearly.

It was with mixed emotions I waited, bought and read this book. Odd is honestly among the top of my all time favorite characters so while anxiously awaiting his reunion with Stormy (which I absolutely believed would happen no matter the details of his demise). I didnt want to read the LAST book of Odd and his crusade against evil with his wonderfully eclectic group of friends and acquaintances, never to have another to look forward to. Although Odd has moved on to another realm,it appears he is still fighting "the good fight" ,alongside Stormy . And I am feverishly hoping and praying Mr. Koontz finds a way( in that enormously creative mind of his) to let us continue to enjoy Odd's incredible adventures. We can always hope.

Overall the book was a three, but I bumped it to four because I enjoyed the ending. Still don't quite understand all the symbolism, the blue and smooth, etc, but then again, I didn't really expect to.
Series is a good read and interesting take on a different sort of anti-hero. I enjoyed it enough to read them all and will probably reread them every few years. I even like them enough to try some other books by Koontz.

This book was horrendous if it truly is the last book for Odd Thomas, this was the kind of book you see half way through a series. Why even introduce the concept of "fully smooth and blue" if you aren't going to do anything with it. Was it just your round about way of saying yes readers Odd is about to die, lame just so lame. Why would the concept matter to so many different people if that was all it meant. Talk about anticlimactic, we have our main character who has saved a mall from a shooting spree and being blown up, defeated a super genius who could create with mere thought, people bent on delivering and using nukes on major cities, destroyed an estate built by Nikola Tesla that had the ability to escape the ravages of time and allow eternal youth, saved a bunch of young kids from an estate of demon worshipers bent on mutilating them for there own amusement and what do we get in the final book Odd saves his home town from..........rabies. It would have been better if his dream had been literal and he saved it from being completely submerged. I could go on and on about loose ends and unanswered questions, who is Annamaria? more importantly did having her in the story really serve any purpose, oh wait yes the flower trick what a joke. I know my reading experience would have been better without her in it. Does where Odd ended up ever mingle with the world he left. Who are those mysterious people who are able to know if Odd is "fully smooth and blue" in addition to the other odd things they seem to know about what comes after yet when asked claim only to be human. I could go on for a while explaining where my disgust comes from but to what point, what is done is done. I can definitely say this whole experience will have me thinking twice before i pick up another book by Dean Koontz.

Despite the ending /demise of Odd Thomas,it was a fitting way to reunite him and Stormy. It opens possibilities for different stories ,with a different time and place featuring these spirits. It also opens the possibility of the real world struggle being fought without Odd's physical presence but possible influence on eth remaining characters we have been reading about over several books in the series. I am sure Mr.Koontz will explore one or both themes to keep us entertained

I have read all the books in this series. This one was about 150 pages too long with uninteresting details. I did enjoy the ending but it was too long coming. Seems like the authour added way too much filler and very little substance.

I really liked the first couple of books in this series. I thought they were clever and entertaining, but as the series went on they became more predictable and seemed to run out of fresh ideas. I found this final installment of Koontz's Odd Thomas series to be disappointing. It failed to instill any since of suspense or urgency in me. The characters had the potential to be interesting, but were never really developed or took on any sense of life for me. The best thing I can say for the final chapter of Odd Thomas, is that it is the final chapter.

I really liked the Odd books by Koontz, but was very said to see it end this way.
Why couldn't he just have stayed a fry cook forever in Pico Mondo ?I was always looking forward to the next Odd book, oh well will have find another hero to follow.

I started reading the Odd Thomas series and absolutely loved the first few works. However this book as well as the 2-3 before are so overwrought with excessive description that I ended up scanning and speed reading to get through the books.

I fell in love with Odd and his quirkiness. These series are the best in good vs evil and I love Odds outlook of life.

As always an interesting journey through a life that's full of twists and mystery with a touch of the mystical . And thoroughly within the realm of possibilities . From the moment I first started reading about Odd I have been hooked .

Odd is one of my favorite book characters. Although I am sorry to see him go, I am glad he went the way he did. I don't think there could have been a better ending for him.
